How to Make Monster Eyes out of Foam for puppets and cosplay! - Easy DIY Realistic Dragon Eyes for Cosplay and Puppets. If you have a cosplay or dragon puppet that needs some awesome looking eyes this is the tutoirial for you! In this video I show the steps that it takes to craft your own eyes using eva foam, foam clay, and plastic christmas bulbs. You can then use your imagination and paint them in any way you see fit. I have made eyes using the clear ornaments before but never used the foam clay... just painted all the detail on this really looks cool. One thing that adds some cool detail is mica dust dry brushed on then sealed with clear spray.

I love the depth the clear bulb gives it. I've always done eyes with beveled glass pieces and wet nail polishes scratched out with tools on the flat back. It's a really cool effect, but this looks awesome for larger models at a lower cost.

Yep, and adding the additional gloss varnish to the foam clay underneather of the bulb made a huge difference

Very cool! I made one of your pumpkins and everybody mentioned how creepy the eyes were so I figured I better keep that on my toolbox. I was thinking about making an eye of Sauron if I could find a bit larger dome. My friends loved the different layers of color in the eyes. Thanks for another great video Steve! Any advise for distressing a wire brush? I've tried scrubbing it on some concrete chunks, and the bristles are just too regular to use for detailing foam.

Get one cheaper with a thinner gauge wire I think the little one I picked up from harbor freight years ago

4:54 you keep calling these paints cadmium xyz but the tubes says cadmium free on all but one. Just a heads up so you can adjust so ppl who don’t pay as much attention don’t use the wrong colors if they are just listening and not really reading the tubes.

Cadmium and cadmium free are the same hue. some shops will only carry one or the other doesn’t matter which version you can find
