I love that Jenny just blazes full speed on that machine. No hesitation, no gentle start. Just pedal to the metal! 😂😂

In 1931 they didn’t have all the tools and techniques we have today. Can you imagine the length of time it took a quilter to make each of these blocks, assemble and quilt it all? An incredible amount of love went into those quilts that were probably made for special occasions. A family that has any one of those old quilts handed down is so lucky! And yes, I know not all generations appreciate such a thing. Thank you Jenny for giving us a way to create something so remarkable and beautiful in today’s busy world! 🥰

My gosh Jenny excellent 2” strips off 10” square for 4 patches. Why did we not think of this earlier. Another must have tip
@Silencedogood-r6lАй бұрын
Fat 1/8 work very well with this pattern too! The 8” cut gives you enough room to make whatever cuts you need to make and you can get several blocks from each cut. (With the exception of the 8, 2 in squares of accent color per block)

I’m just in awe at how fast you sew and match all those seams! I agonize over nesting every seam and only get it perfect about 60% of the time. I swear, I spend as much time ripping as sewing, haha! But everything I sew always seems to have mistakes somewhere; I call them “fatal flaws”, but like you said, “a nobody has ever returned any of my imperfect quilts”. Thank you sincerely for the constant instruction and encouragement. Africa is going to love you!

I love everything about this quilt except the border fabric… there seem to be so many lovely prints in that collection, why choose a brown one? To each their own, that’s another great thing about Quilting! (It never ceases to amaze me how Jenny can keep up a constant patter of how to do what she’s doing, while keeping straight how many of which unit she needs in which colour fabric, and how they all get assembled into this complicated block. Awesome talent!)

not a fan of quilt patterns that you have to stand across the room in order to see the overall design emerge, so i wait and patiently wait for quilt patterns that use smaller pieces to make more complex, intricate designs. this is one of those! yay! i see this in brights and in jewel tones and civil war fabrics and and... 😊
