Fantastic! Thank you. Just like my mother used to make them who immigrated from Calabria. Even the sprinkles! She didn't have a food processor and mixed them by hand, but the result looks just like yours. We love them!

Your recipe is the same as my aunt used to make - she did it by hand - made a flour well etc - she made 3 things for my family; turdilli; scallilli (spelling); and ginettes - which I have found on various sites as "S" cookies. I decided I was making turdilli and scallilli this year to try... again. It was all done by feel (as you know) so measurements were "loose". Thank you for your half recipe - it will work for me. Merry Christmas to you 2023.

I realize this video was put up 6 years ago but i had to express my thanks to you. I grew up like many 3rd generation Italian Americans eating fantastic food. My mother made "wine cookies" every Christmas. They were extraordinary and addictive. Now I'm a senior living on the West Coast and longing for some of the food I had as a youngster. I lost the recipe in the move 15 years ago. Your instructions are exactly how my mother made them. This is a simple recipe that very few manage to get right. (My relatives made them and they were always just awful.) Now I'll make them with confidence in the next few days because of your expertise and generosity. Thanks!

I just came across you making these..I just finished making a batch with my husband! We use his mother’s recipe which is almost identical to yours . The Only thing different is that you added sugar to the dough. I’m going to try that the next time..which will be next Christmas, because yes, they are a lot of work. I’m going to try rolling them on the grater like you did. My mother in law used a basket and we looked high and low for one that would make the same design..so just ended up using a fork. As a side note, you’re right with people not wanting to share their recipes..I think the y don’t want anyone to make it better! My aunts would do that to my mother and she just knew they didn’t give her the full recipe. Anyway, I’m so glad I found your channel..and now I have subscribed ... My husband and I grew up in the Bronx, and you remind me of someone from ‘ the neighborhood’..

I’d rather not give them any recipe instead of leaving something out. I only use a half cup of sugar. Made them tonight with my daughter-in-law. She wanted to learn.

I can’t here her son when he talks, and the music appears to be on a repeat feed so it’s the same lyrics anyway, so would be better without.
