Three ingredients, so simple. Your recipe sounds wonderful, Kalle. But the conversion to the American system doesn't quite translate. Why? Because most of our measurement units are based on 4, instead of in decimals. So when it comes to cooking (or making beauty products), we Americans think fractionally, rather than decimally. A cup is 8 ounces , but 2/10 of a cup of corn starch or 08/100 cup of baking soda is not quite in our vocabulary. I think I can help you with the conversion. Approximately: almost 1/4 cup corn or potato starch or arrowroot 4 teaspoons baking soda (also known as bicarbonate of soda) almost 1/4 cup coconut oil. How I converted the ingredients: it's easier for me to think of 50 mL rather than 0.5dL because in Germany, my mother's homeland, they tend to use mL in their cookbooks, instead of dL. It's actually 60mL that =1/4 cup in the American system of measurements, so maybe we could say 1/4 cup, less 2 teaspoons for the cornstarch and the coconut oil? As for the baking soda, 5 mL = 1 teaspoon. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Kalle. I look forward to trying it. :-)

I started your video... ran upstairs... made some deodorant and came back down to finish the video. Great video. Couple of things I would recommend to those making it.... You are balancing the oil with the cornstarch and baking soda. You don't want greasy/oily and you don't want dry crumbly. The baking soda is going to act as a neutralizer of the PH and acidity in your pits. This will help with keeping the bacteria at bay that cause odor. The baking soda and the corn starch will absorb moisture helping keep you "dry". They can absorb Choose essential oils that are pure and if possible get those that are cold pressed and not extracted by chemicals like methanol and ethanol. A lot of essential oils on the market are fake so make sure you are getting pure essential oil and not a scent added to a generic oil. If using essential oils then you should try to chose oils that are naturally beneficial to being anti-bacterial and oils that are not "Hot". He used lime which is a citrus oil so if you have sensitive skin you may react to that oil as it is a "Hot" oil just like peppermint and many others. You can still use them but in small amounts and if you have sensitive skin you may not be able to. Some oils that are naturally antibacterial would be things like lemongrass, geranium, lavender, tea tree (hot), lemon (hot) and a bunch more but these are the common ones for the most part. Other oils you can blend in would be grapeseed oil, avocado oil, argan oil. These are great for the skin and they help as a "carrier" for the essential oils and will help the oils blend into your deodorant and mix better. You want to add these slowly and mix in well. You don't want your deodorant to be to oily. You can also add butters like shea butter or cocoa butter but you want to add small amounts as they are very greasy but are great additives. The other additive some folks will use is cream of tartar that you can buy in the spice aisle. It is a PH balancer and is alkaline. It is also anti-bacterial so a little of this added into your cornstarch, baking soda mix can make a difference. All of this is completely natural and if you want you can always buy empty deodorant containers on Amazon or online and you can put it in those if you don't want to use your hands like a cream.

I have tried this and I am amazed! No smell at all after a long busy day in the middle of the summer heat! I've been using deodorant in the last years and it didn't work properly, I still smelled, the only thing that worked before was antiperspirant but it contains aluminium salts and I knew is bad because after my mom got breast cancer, the doctors told her to never use anything on her armpits that contains aluminium salts so I stopped doing it too but the alcohol deodorant didn't help too much and in the past few months my lymphatic glands in the armpits area became inflamated and hurt so I was desperate to find something natural that works. I totally recommend you to try it! ❤️❤️ Thank you so much Kalle 🙏🏼

Most US cooks have Arrowroot to use to thicken gravies and sauces, It ends up clear and is also smoother and fewer lumps than wheat flour, which is the only flour most Americans use. Dozens of other types are available but the average get something on the table as fast as possible, person does not use them although many are on the shelf at the standard food store.

I do the same! after using a lemon, usually after preparing a ginger lemon tea in the morning, I use the squeezed out lemon on my armpits. It neutralizes the bacteria. Another similar alternative is apple cider vinegar. It just comes on a bit strong at the start and is not as pleaseantly smelling (which is not the point of applying lemon juice). Or just slice a thin lemon slice and rub it.

@anoukhuiskes81603 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kalle for this great movie!! Love it! The second reason people can have a allergic reaction (rashes and itching in the armpiy) is because of the bicarbonate (baking soda). This balances out the ph level of your skin and for some people it creates a disbalance. Thats the reason of the rash. Do you know a recipe without baking soda? Love your content and keep up the good work!

Wow thank you, your comment touches a nerve. I have so many allergies i should be an alien. ( i would'nt mind an astronauts helmet) but deodorant is applied directly over our lymph node area ( please correct me if i'm not accurate). And if you read your harmless-looking D.O.from the supermarket it starts to look abit dark, abit worryimg. The sheer amount of in gredients .make it look to me suspect anyway. As if thw chemicals are designed cancel each other out.? Dear fellow, i will now try natural home -made d.o's. Thumbs up !.😄🧡👍

I don’t make my own deodorant but I stoped using the “normal” stuff you can get at the grocery store and opted for a vegan one. Almost instantly after starting to use the new one I noticed that I smelled less and also was sweating less because when you clog the sweat glands your body starts to overproduce to cleanse and compensate. It’s just like you said “the body needs to sweat”.
@ztipsamme Жыл бұрын
@@nabilblack Why did you feel the need to tell me to shower? Was there something unclear about my comment? If it came across as if I don’t clean myself properly that’s incorrect. I was pointing out that “normal” deodorant causes a smell on me and vegan deodorant doesn’t.

I make my own as well. I started with coconut oil but I have found out my husband seems to have a reaction to it so now I use grapeseed oil, which I also use in my salves. The nice thing about natural diy deodorant and other hygiene products there are different ways you can make them in accordance to one's body. It's great you have one that works for you. Oh, and I add I add Bergamot essential oil. For anyone wanting to try it, know that you will stink for a couple of weeks wile your body detoxes from the commercial brands. My husband went through it and was amazed after some education about it. He's a believer now :)

Made this and it worked well for the first couple of days. Since then, I put it on after my shower but around 6-8 hours later I can notice B.O. I've not been doing anything particularly arduous and it's not been that warm where I live. It's also been itching a bit when I put it on (that subsides later) and I think it's staining some shirts (and I've been waiting at least 20 minutes to put on a shirt), which I'm worried because, since it's not working so well, I've been adding a bit more of the deodorant than during the first days (about two-peas worth, now). Been using it for a couple of weeks and want to continue, but may need to refine the recipe. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I feel like I've tried every natural toothpaste and deodorant. The most recent works well and easy to make. It does require the purchase of a roller ball. I put a few drops of my favorite essential oil in the roller ball first, then fill with off brand milk of magnesia which is just magnesium hydroxide. Easy peasy, no staining. Lasts all day for me and I can get pretty stinky 😅

I make my own deodorant like this too only I don't need the starch (I don't sweat like most people though) however, I add powdered magnesium to help control the skin bacteria so I can use much less baking soda on my skin because of sensitivity. I also make our tooth paste with coconut fat and baking soda. When we brush our teeth, we can add a drop of peppermint or clove oil. I've not had any need for dental work since switching to this homemade tooth paste & my children have never had a cavity in their lives! They're both adults now 🥰 White coconut oil naturally kills bad bacteria that cause odor and can damage gums or teeth while leaving a protective layer in the mouth.
