this is literally the best recipe video ive ever seen, so neatly executed, no unnecessary chatter, just the strangely soothing sounds of ingredients being blended, added or the simple sounds of the vessels being used it was totally informative but strangely calming to watch i wish wed get to see more such beautifully, tidily executed cooking related videos im very very impressed

I have a close friend who is into Organics and natural foods, etc. Every Easter, she makes her own food coloring and makes the most gorgeous Easter eggs I’ve ever seen.

Kudos to all you folks who bake enough to go through all the effort to produce your own natural food coloring.

When I was in high school I asked a guy I had a huge crush on why blueberries were purple and he said, “It’s because they’re rebellious.”

The thing about natural food colour is as she said it earlier in the video that if we make orange colour in a natural way with carrots you can actually seems to taste that little bit of carrot paste in whatever you have added so if I’m adding natural orange colour in frosting to make rainbow cake you can taste that carrot flavour and and same thing with the yellow i mean turmeric who want to taste turmeric in a frosting right so i might still stick with the store bought gel colours not with the blueberry’s purple colour tho…but as always perfect video Erin!!xoxo💕💕❤️

Love you so much, you are so awesome. I miss getting to work in kitchens and bakeries, even that catered outdoor venues. I get to learn all the cool updated things through you, I actually watched the strudel one first and commented that I like making ice cream sandwiches with the Toaster Strudels, sometimes I'll do a caramel drizzle or a sprinkling of some toasted nuts if I want to be fancy

Thanks so much for this natural alternative with food coloring! because its healthier. I stopped using those store bought food coloring but its bad for your health and effects the brain. Much appreciate this healthier food coloring video. Can you do a healthy frosting?

Butterfly pea flowers also react to PH like red cabbage does! At least I know the tea does. I'm not sure if the powder does? Something to be aware of if you're using it in a recipe that uses acidic liquids like citrus juice.
@Alpha13Wolf2 жыл бұрын
Yup turns bright pink. The powder is just the dried petals ground into a powder; so it reacts just like the tea.

The brightly coloured foods that have become so trendy over the past couple of years just bother me. I'm not sure why exactly but they do. The rainbow bagel annoys me to no end, I don't even put red in the red velvet. But I know it's appealing to people so this video is perfect to me. Thank you, Food52!

to FOOD52 - *PLEASE* stop with the side angle views. who TF is she supposed to be talking to?????? it's gdamn bizarre and frustrating to have the person basically *looking away* from us, the viewer. if you MUST, have her look at THAT camera. but ffs, there's no reason for this. if you want a shift, just do closeups on the products, the things she's talking about, or more insertions with clips of the foods used for colorings, or of her MAKING the ones she's talking about. this tactic is great for interviews, so you can see the speaker head on, versus a sideview with BOTH people. but it's irrational in single person view. have you not been in a conversation where someone is being distracted (OR rude) and look away a lot or won't make eyecontact, or keep doing other things? THIS is the experience you force on us with friggin side view. you have to ask yourself: WHAT are you trying to accomplish with this? pretty sure it's just 'a jumpcut to keep people interested'/engaged. well, how about you cut to something that provides value? because staring at the side of someone's head who's talking to you but looking away is VEXING. there's more than one way to fulfill a jumpcut.
