Not being able to pronounce the ingredients isn't that great of an argument. I can pronounce many difficult words easily on the first try, but I still don't think we should be consuming most of them after researching the sources of such "unpronounceable" words. Thanks for sharing the cinnamon tip!

Will not saffron strands be better than turmeric (it may be a very light yellow though)?
@EasyPeasyKitchen10 ай бұрын
Saffron is definitely a great yellow option, though it can get quite pricey.

It's interesting isn't it! Have you tried making natural food colourings?
@medeli74612 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing that! On my own I've just taken some small chunks for fresh raw beet and mixed it around in my frosting and the pink color comes strongly just from this (I make this frosting simple with just organic cream cheese, honey and vanilla) It makes my gingerbread cookies look great!

Yum, that's a great way of doing it too. Beetroot is such a vibrant colour and so cool to be able to use it to naturally colour other foods!

Also, I do natural dyes with Pacific NW plants here in the US. I make salve with calendula which dyes yellow. I bet calendula petals would also make a nice yellow color paste/frosting/cheese etc! I also dye with other things like oregon grape root which makes a beautiful yellow. there are also edible mushrooms that make incredible colors...and ferns and nettles make a gorgeous green dye as well (when a mordant of alum is used.) I bet I can experiment with using these local wild edibles to see and extracting their colors for food dyes as well! You've inspired me! Plus, you have a beautiful accent. I love listening to you, you are so loving, happy, calm and clear in your presentations!

Thank you for sharing!if I want dark peacock blue,what food I can use?seaweed powder?some people say it smelly😞
@EasyPeasyKitchen Жыл бұрын
Sometimes it's really hard to get dark colours with natural food dyes unfortunately, but you could try spirulina powder or a mixture of that and the purple cabbage colouring. You could always add a bit of vanilla or black currant cordial to mask the smell. I haven't tried all these options, but just ideas you could play around with 😊

I saw a tip pn how to intensify the colors of buttercream! Mix them with a high speed mixer, it apparently separates the butter into finer drops which makes the colors pop 😃

One thing i am wondering is this: How safe is it to use this food coloring the day before you serve it? I'm wondering if the sugar in the butter cream frosting mitigates any problems with bacteria? I'm hoping honey or maple syrup will do the same but I'm still a nervous about the 'food safety' aspect as I don't want to 'poison anyone. Usually I leave baked goods out of the fridge when I prepare them and eat them the next day. I don't normally use frosting on anything but at Christmas time but I'm getting excited about playing with a new set of frosting tips that will be coming in the mail soon and really admire the beautiful artwork that is created. I"m thinking of how this can be applied to also make non-sugary' stuff like coloring chevre or putting a cool garnish on yams or potatoes. I have a 'spiralizer' for vegetables that I have had fun with...It'd be very fun to make spiralized yam for example and then add natural color dyed feta to it!

You have some amazing ideas. I haven't had any problems using the dyes and leaving them out of the fridge overnight. I don't put my baked goods in the fridge either. I haven't tried using the dyes in savoury preparations yet, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Please tag me on Instagram if you give any of these ideas a go, I'd love to see how they turn out ☺️
