Great question: That’s is the dross or impurities. If you leave them in they will contaminate your ingots.

6th 👍 How many uses can you get out of your kinetic sand before you can no longer make molds with it?

It usually dries out about a 1/4 inch around where you pour. I take a butter knife and scrap the cooked/dried sand off before rebagging it. I have poured 6 pour with to same two bags I started with.
