My gift for you today is the iconic Fattoush! Also... say hi to Mama 👑 Fattoush is one of the greatest salads of all time. The flavors are BOLD, the textures are just right, and you could eat endless bowls of it. It is universally loved across the Levant and the whole world, and sparks so much joy. Every household makes it in their own way, so this is my Sitto's recipe! 🥗 We shot this video at the end of the summer together, and I am so excited to share it with you. We hope you enjoy... and Sahtein ✌️

I'm learning Arabic and hearing your mum speak while reading the subtitles is such a great exercise, Levantine Arabic is so beautiful! Also, I bought sumac a while ago and didn't know what to use it for. I'm making fattoush tomorrow!

My family is from Northern India(Lucknow) but we trace our roots back to Palestine. The dishes and ingredients are so familiar to me. Purslane is something my parents and their friends spoke of with fondness not only for its flavor but mostly for its health benefits. I ordered seeds to grow as well. I grow chives throughout my garden and herbs are a must. TYFS, stay safe and healthy everyone ❤️

@@3esh7orran Bilad Al Sham. However a huge part of Syria and Jordan aren’t originally part of “Al Sham”, because they’re made of the Syrian Desert. But yeah those countries are very similar. Then you have Iraq as a separate area, also Yemen as a separate area. Hejaz on the west cost of the Arabian Peninsula. Khaleej on the east coast. The centre is Najd and an extension of the Syrian desert until it reaches Al Rub’ Al Khali desert. These are the ancient areas were Arabs originally lived.

I love watching moms cook because what are measurements to them? 😂 When your mom described the size of a big tomato, she made me think of my grandma, who would never say "add a pinch", she'd say "ponle un sí y un no" (add a yes and a no). This was a very lovely video and you both have such a calming energy! Thank you for your content, Nadia. It made me feel at home.

Wow, I simply never expected excitement as one of the possible outcomes of watching someone make salad (and I adore salad!) but the respect, love, and care that goes into each and every ingredient addition, and the respect, love and care of each other super-charges this! I aspire, I aspire! I will do this as soon as the purslane begins growing (which should be very soon. Quite common wild edible aka weed in Pennsylvania and mostly all over the world.) Love to Mom! She's fab, the "acorn didn't fall far from the tree!"

Double blessing on this one. We get the great salad, and we get to enjoy your mom, and you, interacting in the kitchen together. This is my memories of cooking in my childhood home growing up. All that is missing is the Grandma. Sometimes, our grandmothers leave us too early, and we miss out on the foods they love and could teach us. I was lucky to have my Grandma (MiMi) teach me Some of her recopies, and cooking techniques. Of course, you need to be blessed with a Grandma that is a wonderful cook. I think most are, only one of my grandma's really cooked, but boy oh boy, could she make tasty food. Thanks for this wonderful time you shared with us once again, please do some more of these for us. Cheers from Michigan.

Purslane is a very common weed here in Michigan. It grows in hot sandy soil and most yards that are organic probably have some. Parking lots and neglected areas as well. Great source of omega 3. Once you find some, you can grow it in flower pot or raised bed.
