Yes, the one time I tried to soap in a tank top, I absolutely got a caustic burn on my forearm I used to stir the lye in the water. NEVER made that mistake again! Beautiful soap 🧼

Hi - You mentioned being able to use fragrance in this recipe, which ones would work for this soap. I typically like a clean smell. Thank you for such amazing informative videos.

Thank you so much! I'm am from Brazil and didn't know what to do with do much babassu oil I got here. I will for sure try this, but I see this was a cold process, right? How many weeks shall we wait till we can use this soap?

We always recommend letting your cold process soaps cure for 4-6 weeks before use.

I love babassu for soap! I can't use coconut. So, I use babassu in its place. I have a similar recipe to this one that uses babassu, olive pomace, and cocoa butter, but I add kaolin clay to mine [as well as the sodium lactate] for hardness.

Loved this video, thank you. I am a very new soaper in fact not made my first bar, waiting on my package from BB :) my question is would this particular soap be good for sensitive skin? My husband likes to use soap for sensitive skin, me? I can use anything. Thank you - Tania

The lack of fragrance oil and high amount of butters in this recipe makes it very gentle on skin, but since everyone is different, we recommend creating a small test batch and seeing if it works for your husband.

I’m surprised at the recommended substitution of babassu for palm, due to the fatty acid profiles. It shows babassu as a substitute for palm kernel or coconut, not palm oil 🤔But I love your videos: thank you!

Personally, I prefer lard or tallow as the replacement for palm, because I use babassu for a coconut replacement. But if you can use coconut, you can still use babassu to replace palm, but maybe because you should use olive pomace to balance it out further? I'm not 100% sure, but I will either use palm or lard / tallow. Depends on what the person I'm making it for wants.

May I ask u a question ? You put sodiam lactate and why you put beewax ?
@stancexpunks
@stancexpunks 2 жыл бұрын
She never used beeswax here. As for the sodium lactate, it’s to help make the soap harder which aids in unmolding sooner

I'm allergic to coconut and palm, I had to stop using it, I guess I need to make sure I'm not also allergic babassu oil as well. I miss soaping so much.

The particular 5 quart mixing bowl used in this video isn't one we currently sell. We like using KitchenAid or Cuisinart brand bowls and utensils.

Is this a soap good for sensitive skin
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry Жыл бұрын
For skin sensitivities we recommend going back to basics and removing any colorants or fragrances from the soaps. A blend of equal parts Coconut, Olive, and Palm Oils are a great starting recipe.

how to keep the white color?
@bramble-berry

The color of your final bar can be affected by your oils and the fragrance you use. Make sure you are using light colored oils and butters and a fragrance that does not discolor.

Palm isn’t the problem. I live in Asia it’s the giant food companies in America that exploit these people in developing countries in Asia is the core of the problem and this applies exactly the same for coconut oil as too many Americans are going Gaga for coconut oil craze. And not only common in Asia but in Africa and South America as well as other religions of the world. Rosewood and sandalwood are now endangered because of westerners who seek these oils. It’s the westerner’s unbalanced skewed views to life and corresponding corporate greed that cater to these people is what it boils down to. You don’t know much about what’s happening in the rest of the world but you base “orangutan” on Netflix show... If you don’t want animals or habitats exploited, don’t go for boycotting an oil but use varieties of oils that you have at home and stop exploiting people in developing countries.
