How to Make Perfect Cupcakes From A Box | Boxed Cupcakes Hacks

Learn how to make perfect cupcakes from a box cake mix to make any flavor of boxed cupcakes taste like bakery or homemade cupcakes! Boxed cake mixes come in handy when you do not have time to make cupcakes from scratch but still want an amazing baked good. By swapping out a few ingredients on the back of the box cake mix with items you most likely already have, a boxed cake can taste amazing! This recipe is my favorite boxed cake, but you can also add different extracts and adding some coffee to a chocolate cake tastes amazing too! Make sure to not overmix the cupcake batter and only mix on a medium speed or vigorously by hand for about 2 minutes. Using a cookie scoop with a level works best to add cake batter to a muffin pan since it gives an even amount of batter to make perfect cupcakes without getting cake batter all over the pan and liners. Bake both pans of cupcakes on one rack in the oven to allow equal airflow to all the cupcakes and do not open the oven door until the cupcakes are close to being finished to ensure all the hot air stays inside the oven.
You will need 1- 15.25 oz. boxed cake mix (any flavor)
Substitute 1 cup water for 1 cup milk
Substitute 1/2 cup of oil for 1/3 of a cup of melted and slightly cooled butter
Most boxed cake recipes call for 3 eggs so add an extra one
Additional Options
1 tsp vanilla or almond or coconut extract (use any extract)
Add up to 1 cup coffee to a chocolate cake
Pudding mix
Nuts
Fruit

Can i hand mix ? I don't have any mixer rn with me. In storage. In box or other past video or googke look up said appke sauce to make moist & idk another said something else, but i don't like that idea, but milk seems to be right. You don't specify if milk out the fridge or krft out a few mins room temp or what temp & that looks mire then slightly melted butter. I put yhe butter bsck in to make it look like yours. Well i prepped other ibgredients & cant wait for eggs to be not cold so i hope its ok.

Hi Lily! Yes, you can mix these cupcakes by hand. I use a hand mixer because it is quicker, and it makes filming much easier 😄 I have used apple sauce in muffin, quick bread, and mug cake recipes to help cut calories and still have a moist baked good.

Hi Tenisha! I would follow the directions on the box mix for how long to bake since each mix is different. I would try to use an ice cream scoop that holds about 4 tbsp of batter. I usually use that size to make cupcakes 🙂

Hey! Yes, you can add vanilla extract to the cupcake batter and the buttercream frosting. I would say about 1 tsp would be ideal. It may change the color of the batter. What type of buttercream frosting are you using? I have a buttercream frosting recipe as well as many other flavors.

I haven't tried it so I do not know for sure, but I would say add a little extra milk and a little extra butter and keep the amount of eggs the same as the amount I have written in the description box. The cake mix I used was a 15.25 oz (432 g) mix. Let me know how it works out when you try it.

The coffee would replace the water called for in the directions on the box. I personally really like substituting the water for milk, but coffee would really amplify any chocolate cake mix!

The cupcakes may have been too large. I hope you were still able to use the cupcakes for something else and they didnt go to waste! You can always make cake pops or a cake cup with sunken or deformed cup cakes 🙂

Hey! Great idea! Yes, you can use heavy cream instead of milk, just make sure to dilute the heavy cream with water since the fat content of heavy cream is higher than milk. Follow your recipe and dilute the heavy cream with water. For example, using a half cup of heavy cream mixed with a half cup of water will work out best for replacing one cup of milk. I hope your cupcakes turn out delicious 😊
