make a square canvas, drag and drop black from the color picker to fill area, then use transform to make it smaller while retaining its square aspect!

@VisualTimmy thanks man. Idk what it is about the iPad lol every time I pick it up I go full smooth 🧠 😅 I'm like this in every tablet application. I guess I'm so used to the robustness and sensory overload of desktop applications the streamline UI of tablet apps throw me off. Somehow I get lost in the simplicity of it 🤣

Make your Brush shape source larger or smaller. You can also change the brush setting to be 100% minimum opacity!

@VisualTimmy3 ай бұрын
go into brush settings and change the "minimum opacity" to 100%. If that doesn't work for you, then try using a larger shape source for the brush!

Is there a way to double the size of the canvas and still be able to draw pixel perfect images? I doubled the size of the canvas and it tends to bleed out onto other pixels
@VisualTimmyАй бұрын
That issue would be based on the size of the pixel brush. You would need to use a small brush size and zoom it to get it to work properly. Then you'll need to rescale your grid and be sure it still matches 1:1 with the canvas pixels. I tend to resize my artwork after, or start with a larger pixel canvas to begin with!

Only correction/ tip I would give people is, for canvas size, keep it to the power of 2. So 8x8, 16x16, 32x32, 64x64 etc. Makes like a lot easier, specially when using them in games and such

Tap on your shape source and 'tap once with 2 fingers' this will invert the shape. The square should be white once the file is in the shape source.

You can import a pure white or black square image to the shape source, or you can choose import > from library > then look for the white square in the grain source
@Loserpostingz2 ай бұрын
Mines doesn’t work, it’s opacity is weird and looks like a really zoomed in line :/ any idea what I did wrong?

I’m trying to figure out if I need to use Aseprite. When I use the selection tool, circle my sprite (say I want to copy a wizard hat) and make it slightly larger. Procreate wont (or I can find it) resize. What it does is adds blocks together and if I turn it, it goes nuts. However I can do what I’m asking for in Aseprite. Any suggestions or is this a limitation on procreate.
@VisualTimmyАй бұрын
Yes Aseprite is designed specifically for small scale pixel art, so it will probably be better at moving small pixels around. If you are using Procreate you can change your interpolation settings to nearest neighbor and try to resize a couple times and see if it works. I will experiment and see what I can find.
@AkechiWasRightАй бұрын
Is there a way to stop the inconsistency of the colours? like at 5:00.
@VisualTimmyАй бұрын
Yes, go to brush settings in the Properties tab and change the minimum opacity to 100%. You can also simply duplicate your outline pixel layer a couple times and it will fill the opacity. It is caused by slight variation in opacity from pressure and location the brush was used. I will work to refine this for the next update of the pixel brush settings
@AkechiWasRightАй бұрын
@@VisualTimmy i see thank you very much. Duplicating does work and increasing the opacity does make it better.

@VisualTimmy3 ай бұрын
do you have drawing assist turned on the layer? open the layer menu and check for that. tap on the thumbnail of the layer and turn off drawing assist, that may be why
@zackfair7298Ай бұрын
I’m encountering the same situation. I can go only horizontal and vertical with apple pencil, but can go diagonal with finger (nothing wrong with my apple pencil, paints well with normal brushes on other canvases). I’m not having drawing assist on. I can’t figure out why :(

@VisualTimmy3 ай бұрын
Could be issues with too small of a shape source. Try making it larger or use a full white square for the shape source. The tutorial shows the brush settings I like to use, but I often don't use quick shape in pixel art. Try that!
