Only correction/ tip I would give people is, for canvas size, keep it to the power of 2. So 8x8, 16x16, 32x32, 64x64 etc. Makes like a lot easier, specially when using them in games and such

@VisualTimmy17 күн бұрын
Depends, but you can try to import the animation into Procreate and it should create a layer for each frame. From there you can choose to resize canvas, then make sure to check resample canvas and it should resample every layer in the animation.

Could be issues with too small of a shape source. Try making it larger or use a full white square for the shape source. The tutorial shows the brush settings I like to use, but I often don't use quick shape in pixel art. Try that!

I tapped with my two fingers at it made it reverse with the white circle in the middle, so it's a different thing sadly. I followed all the steps further and achieved kind of satisfying result, haha, but it's still not perfect. Could you please tell me, how did you change the shape of the brush? Is there a way to double the size of the canvas and still be able to draw pixel perfect images? I doubled the size of the canvas and it tends to bleed out onto other pixels
@VisualTimmy4 ай бұрын
That issue would be based on the size of the pixel brush. You would need to use a small brush size and zoom it to get it to work properly. Then you'll need to rescale your grid and be sure it still matches 1:1 with the canvas pixels. I tend to resize my artwork after, or start with a larger pixel canvas to begin with!

Not even quite sure how to word this question, but how do I need to adjust this brush to different grid sizes? Say I’m working on a 700x100 grid or something for a project? I tried using this brush on a 2048x2048 canvas, added a grid (don’t even know what size, I was testing the brush) and the brush didn’t behave the same, naturally.. what are the rules to this so I can easily use the brush on different scales for different projects?
@VisualTimmy17 күн бұрын
No matter the canvas size, if this brush is set to the smallest setting, it will always paint 1 pixel. If you want to work with large canvas size in the thousands, then you can just use a regular brush. This brush is specific for painting one pixel at a time, otherwise with large sizes you will get large block shapes that don't flow smoothly. If you want to adjust this brush to work better at larger sizes, I recommend changing the square to a circle for shape source, then lowering the spacing so that the brush flows more smoothly!

@VisualTimmy4 ай бұрын
Yes, go to brush settings in the Properties tab and change the minimum opacity to 100%. You can also simply duplicate your outline pixel layer a couple times and it will fill the opacity. It is caused by slight variation in opacity from pressure and location the brush was used. I will work to refine this for the next update of the pixel brush settings

I’m trying to figure out if I need to use Aseprite. When I use the selection tool, circle my sprite (say I want to copy a wizard hat) and make it slightly larger. Procreate wont (or I can find it) resize. What it does is adds blocks together and if I turn it, it goes nuts. However I can do what I’m asking for in Aseprite. Any suggestions or is this a limitation on procreate.
@VisualTimmy4 ай бұрын
Yes Aseprite is designed specifically for small scale pixel art, so it will probably be better at moving small pixels around. If you are using Procreate you can change your interpolation settings to nearest neighbor and try to resize a couple times and see if it works. I will experiment and see what I can find.
