Welcome to Tiffany Outdoors! today I will show you how I made a plate rack target for my pellet gun. I got the idea from Brain Exploder check out his channel for all things airsoft. he also makes 3D target holders so check out his store.
to see me shooting full sized steel targets check out this video

when setting the hinges place them back a 1/8 th of a inch from the front board. That way the target leans slightly to the front. And that should help them stay up without the need for magnets? The magnets are a good idea though.

Great video. Wish I'd have found this 4 months ago. Would have saved me some trial and error. Another excellent target is the metal caps for steel fencing. The weld on type. Drill a hole in the top for a bolt, drill a small hole in the end of the bolt, and hang with some bailing wire. Makes a great little bell target. Have a wonderful day.

Move the hinges back 1/2" so the plates lean forward slightly, that should stop them falling down before they are hit. Be careful with files they are brittle and can snap and fling razor sharp bits into your eyes etc. I think your resetable plate targets are brilliant, well done for working it all out, I might have a go myself.

Great idea! If you wanted to make one for higher calibers without breaking the bank on ar500 steel, you could simply rivet tin cans in place of the electrical covers. Once the cans were destroyed you could just replace them. Mount the whole thing upside down and just let gravity reset the system.

Nice job! It's always tough to come up with a target design that can work flawlessly with a large range of different powered air guns. For the rifle, I'd either lean the entire base forward a little or move back the hinge on each target such that the targets lean forward a little when the base is level. This should prevent targets you're not shooting at from falling when you hit the one you are shooting at. Personally, I'd avoid shooting bb's at a steel target as the ricochet's can become unpredictable.
@tiffanyoutdoors3885

Thank you for the idea. I was thinking that I would try putting some soft foam on the back of each target so when it does fall the others wont fall too. Yes I agree the BBs did come back at me on some of my shots

i think a pieces of magnets placed at the back of the frontal piece of wood acordingly to the target plates would do the trick of unwanted falling of others

Was thinking of doing one of this kind of targets myself too. The end of my backyard is quite rocky and uphill towards forest.. An idea came to mind. If turning the hinges the other way around, the targets/plates would get more space to lean more forward (if needed). A long screw could be screwed through the front wooden panel for each target - and the angle of how much each target leans forward could then be adjusted separately.. I was thinking of building this in a low, wooden box. Since the box would be placed on an uphill terrain - the inside of the box' back wall would then be visible behind the targets and catch all the missed pellets. No idea though yet how to collect the pellets that hit the targets.. :D :D .. or just maybe oughta build all this in a wooden box.. Oh well, there goes simplicity out of the window, once again.. ;) :D The basic idea of this kind of target is quite easy. But if you do not want to shoot your environment full of pellets throughout the years - then somekind of an "collector" would be good to have.

That is a very good point Bror Jordas!! I think you will love this once you get one built and if you come up with an idea to collect the pellets let me know too ;) Thank you for watching

Styrofoam. Put it behind the targets for any stray ones, they get stuck in there. I'm thinking of putting styrofoam on the targets themselves then printed bullseyes on those, not a fan of pure metal since it makes them bounce.

May I suggest small flat magnetic strips that have adhesive on one side and a flat magnetic strip on the other. They would be just strong enough to stop your targets from falling when you hit the wood.
