MrYoucandoityourself- Thank you for your OUTSTANDING tutorials. QUESTION: What kind of anti-crack membrane do you recommend for placing on top of the dried self-leveling compound for a floating vinyl plank floor? I have a small 4 foot by 4 foot area of my MDF subfloor that needs leveling and is off by 1/4” to 1/2” due to settling. Currently, this vinyl plank flooring does not suggest any under lament. I am concerned the self-leveling compound will crack over time. Any suggestions? Many thanks. Tim
@MrYoucandoityourself4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, for the floating floor you don't need any anti-fracture membrane, because it's using only for tile. Just check your subfloor for any squeaks and moving, if need it put screws, then you can start leveling. Don't forget put primer. Thanks for your question!
@timwilson66344 жыл бұрын
MrYoucandoityourself, how many hours before you pour the self-leveling mix do you add the foam wrap and caulk the foam? And I believe I read in one of your replies, that around 2 hours after you finish pouring and leveling the self-leveling mix, you remove the foam. Is this correct? I’m hoping to try to prime and set up tomorrow and Saturday pour and level my self-leveling mix. Thank you for your quick response with my earlier question 2 days ago!

MrYoucandoityourself: 2 more questions: How much time prior to pouring the self-leveling do you let the foam and caulking cure to prevent the mix from leaking? Question 2: How long do u let the mix harden before you remove the foam walls?
@MrYoucandoityourself4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, now extra time for waiting when caulk will dry. Just prepare everything and start leveling. About foam removing- any time when compound getting dry. Thanks

When you use self leveling concrete like this, do you put down hardie backer on top of that and screw it in before putting the thinset and tile?

After leveling with special primer (primer T), we put the anti-fracture membrane and then tiles.

Hi, I have a 25mm depth to screed over a concrete floor in order to bring the level up to the two other concrete floors. The room area is 3mt x 2.82mt x 25mm. I've looked at the deep base levellers and it is going to be very expensive! Could I put down plywood on top of the existing concrete and then pour a leveller over them as you have done here. The rest of the floors are concrete. There is a laminate floor finish going over all. te floor area to finish it off. Cheers

You can put styrofoam sheets with spray foam. Spray foam use like glue. Just spray water on concrete and foam for better bonding and then put something heavy on top of this sheets, because dome is expended. 3/4”of Styrofoam it’s 18 mm. And then you can put 7 mm self leveling compound on top. Is this clear?
@biblebasics1004 жыл бұрын
@@MrYoucandoityourself Okay, thank you for your time..that sounds like it will save a lot of bags of deep base leveller at £20 a bag👍

@MrYoucandoityourself4 жыл бұрын
Just concrete surface should be clean and sprayed with water and styrofoam as well for better bonding. Yes, you will save a lot. 1/4" sheet of styrofoam 8x4=32 s.f. - 1,5 bag of a self-leveling compound. 3/4" - 4,5-5 bags you can safe. For this area, you can save around 15 bags. Good luck with your project!

Thanks for making this video, I’m remodeling my bathroom and I need to level one corner of the room. I see you used spray foam to secure something around the perimeter of the floor, what did you use? Also, do I need to cover the entire floor or can I do a small section of the floor and once it’s dry lightly sand the edge to make a smooth transition? Thanks!

Hi, I used ones spray foam, it's doesn't help properly. Most of my leveling jobs I am using - Foam Seal Roll - amzn.to/2i3ydAh. Also, I seal this foam on the bottom with silicon. I can't buy any type of cement board in my country because 99% of the houses are built with bricks and concrete so there is not a huge market demand for it. So i can use primer, then leveling compound directly on the subfloor? Will the compoud crack when the wood boucing as you step on it? Should i use flexibile grout and thinset to avoid tiles coming up and cracking?

I need to seal my plywood subfloors with killz oil base paint first. Then can I apply self leveling compound on top of the Killz oil based paint? If so, do I need to primer for the self leveling compound or can the Killz be used as primer? Thanks for sharing all these videos!

MrYoucandoityourself ahh sorry. Kilz is a latex or oil based paint to help seal in stains or chemicals that you cannot remove. We need to seal off our plywood subfloors so we were going to use an oil base paint. But we need to level the floors with this self leveling compound. Can you use self leveling compound over top of painted plywood subfloors? Hope this makes sense.

Ive seen plenty of your videos and have really learned a lot. One thing I haven't seen you do is make a garage floor that purposely has a slope flat. Have you done this before and what technique do you recommend to make it happen? Seems like the self leveling compound might just go down the slope. I am personally trying to do this myself very soon and would like to know what you think.
