Hammer actually works quite well on Linux over wine. I have fully compiled and pushed full maps using Slammin' Tools Hammer, and how Hammer++, using Linux. Wine with DXVK is swag

2:41 if you want to know what he did here is all the settings he changed: View > Screen Elements > Manifest Bar Tools > Options: 2D views | Default to 15 degree rotations, Top Left, One Below Top Left, and Two Below Top Left ON 3D views | back clipping plane, Model Render Distance 10000 3D views | Detail render distance 7200, Forward speed [somewhere in the middle, this is the best area and it differs from person to person but he set it at 4060] Maximize the black thingy

note if you keep portal open, open the console and type: map to run the map without re opening the game ( if ur lazy )

Best intro to the basics of hammer. Before this I was legit making my rooms from scratch using Shift E. The hollow tool is legit. Also, is there anyway to delete specific sections from a wally to make a custom doorway or hallway? Still learning and it seems like this is an important skill I'm missing to make the maps I want. Awesome vid! This channel is underrated.

I never knew it was this easy to install [or get] hammer. Best tutorial [even in freak 2023, it still works!! I didn't have the issue around 5:36 But this [despite only having seen part 1] Is already helping me. I wanna make better chambers, and this is 100% gonna help!! @@THE-CRT you may need valve’s permission but I don’t necessarily think you have to pay for it. (Don’t quote me on that tho) However, you can release maps on the workshop for free and without validation from valve. Up to u really what u want to do.

2:04 I think you're wrong because GoldSource is actually the engine that you are talking about when you say that it's a modified version of the Quake Engine. Source was created later and there's a big diference between Source and GoldSource

Thank you for the video. But I have a couple of problems: 1. Initially, the map is created with the “read-only” parameter 2.When compiling the map, it gives the error "LoadPortals: couldn't read c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\sdk_content\maps\testchamber.prt" And yes. The last problem cannot be fixed even by running the program as an administrator
