Love the sketch in the palest colour idea, I often do that with a light coloured or chalk pencil before painting - the sketch 'dissappearing' is so good!! 🐕🐶 love the pup cameos

Thank you Kat. I first saw you on Sarah Renae Clarke. I'm learning heaps and after watching your KZbin I am even more inspired to try new things. Keep going I love it. You never embarrass yourself you are you. That's the best. Can't wait to find out more about beginners courses. I've changed my lifestyle and as an older person I want to learn more creative things. Thank you SO MUCH for making this video. I am incredibly inspired (and intimidated) by your work, and having you break down your process has led me to be sitting here with my own alcohol markers trying out what you explained and getting me really excited about what I'm able to do so far. I was incredibly moved by your anaglyph piece about invisible disability, and also very curious about how that effect works... I am going to experiment a bit but I'd be sure to watch if you ever made a video about it! totally unrelated - I found you from Sarah Renae Clark, and your rainbow hair in her video made me SO HAPPY - it looks so pretty!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

What are your thoughts on Ohuhu markers ? I noticed Copic markers are not in my budget ? thank you and your work is amazing.
@Katartillustrations2 ай бұрын
I have a drawing I do with the on my Instagram, and they’re about to send me a set to do some more with so I will likely make a better review video here at some point, but in general I think they’re decent. The brush tip is a bit shorter so it’s marginally more difficult to blend them, and they’re in general brighter colours, which also makes blending a tad more difficult, but that is totally nitpicking, overall they’re a good marker and good for the budget as long as you don’t live in Australia like me - we can’t get the refills, or the single markers here, so you have to buy them in sets only, and if you ever run out on a colour you have to buy the whole set again just to replace that one colour.

Kat, what resources would you recommend to learn the fundamentals of drawing? Amazing content as always.
@Katartillustrations7 ай бұрын
Ohhh I’ve been trying to wrack my brain, but I’m self taught and just kinda worked things out for myself, so I don’t have anything I can say I read or followed and loved it…. I guess my best suggestion would be looking up KZbin tutorials, or if there’s artists you love that has resources available? Hmmm.. I’ll circle back to this if/when I come across something I think would be good! I’m sorry I wasn’t any help 🤦♀️

Loved this and loved seeing how you sketched with the lightest marker and then put the color down. Do you use reference photos for your art or do you draw from memory? I can't wait for the marker course! Both a beginner and complete piece course sound amazing!
@Katartillustrations7 ай бұрын
Yay!!! I’m so happy you liked it! It spends as to if i use reference. I didn’t for this one, but I will often have multiple references for different sections of more detailed artworks.

Fantastic piece. I really want to learn markers properly. I can only use them with line work, but I want to be able to do full start to finish pieces. :) I love your hair by the way. I would love rainbow hair :)
@Katartillustrations7 ай бұрын
Oh I hope this helps a bit! I have a few different mini tutorials explaining different way you can use them so maybe one with resonate with you 💜 Do the rainbow hair!!! It’s so fun! I just dye mine at home 😁
@lozantoninocreations7 ай бұрын
@@Katartillustrations I've done lavender hair and bright pink too, just not rainbow. It's annoying for me, as I have to bleach it to colour it. I'm now getting to an age if I go purple again, people will think I'm older than I am, since older ladies do it. It's the age between being fun and cute and older.

I have just found your tutorial after seeing you with Sarah Renee Clarke. Your vision is awesome! How long have you been doing your art with markers?
@RachelJacksonArt19 күн бұрын
I feel like it needs saying here that no markers are lightfast so they will fade within a year of drawing. Just be mindful of that if you want to start selling your art to galleries or clients paying top dollar ❤❤

Can somethign similar be done with acrylic markers?
@KatartillustrationsАй бұрын
Hmm potentially if you were to use a brush with water to water them down? This technique relies on transparent layers building in top of each other, so the opaque flat of an acrylic marker would make that quite difficult to copy this exactly. I have just finished filming an experiment using acrylic markers with layered resin which will hopefully be out soon. Might answer some questions 🙂
