HOW TO MAKE RAW CAT FOOD - Q & A #2 - Part One

Hey guys - first of all, apologies for such a long video AND the poor lighting/sound! I filmed this quickly without frills to answer your questions asap ;) Also, click SUBSCRIBE for Part Two, which will be uploaded at the end of the week!
The breakdown of questions is as follows:
- Do you need to blend the bones in the food?
- Do you need to blend the food so much or can it be left chunky? **Note: At around 2:55 I say chicken “breast” but I mean thigh ;)
- Is this food more expensive than regular cat food?
- Why won’t my store grind the chicken? Why can’t they grind the bones? **Note: 5:19 I say “breast” and mean thigh.. again.. :D
- Are all of the supplements/vitamins necessary to make this cat food? **I forgot to mention that they are ALL necessary except for the L-Lysine I use. Check out the How to Make Raw Cat Food video for an explanation why 

I am new to your site and just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. You are wonderfully expressive with an excellent sense of humor. I found you when doing a search for raw cat food recipes. I am trying to duplicate your recipe but am having a hard time sourcing the chicken hearts. I would like to work through my local health food store to obtain the cleanest meats possible but its not as easy as I would like. Just the same thank you for all the great info and enjoyment.

For people who don’t want to buy all these supplements there are premixes you can buy which are complete which must be mixed with boneless meat such as EZ Complete, My Natural Cat or TC Feline.

I want to comment on two things. My first comment is the thigh chicken bones r really not that hard and if you feel the need to put the thighs in a baggie and smack them with a hammer a couple times they should be fine for just about any decent blender if they get stuck just turn it off quick and rearrange. My second comment is I was excited to try it out on my two cats. And after eating the equivalent of one mouse each the first time and then the second time my big old male (Jack) wanted more. So now I feed him the equivalent of two mice per meal and my young female (Ivory) eats only the equivalent of one mouse at a per meal. Interesting thing: Jack has has some hip issues (he’s 15). On dry food only he can barely walk, I supplement him with powdered baby formula mixed w/water per the directions, it works for him. He does much better on wet food. Now I’ve been trying to get a short video of him when he literally tries to run for the raw food! I want to call it a scamper! It’s so cute. He’s never run for his food before! Hi, i really enjoy all your videos about raw cat food! I do want to start my kittens on raw cat food but i want to know how to manage unfrozen portions? Since we are dealing with raw meat, do you unfreeze the portions on a daily basis or every other day? In other words how long is an unfrozen portion good for? Thanks in advance!!

About the cost: I had to switch my cat to wet food when she got a bladder infection due to stress from a move and chronic dehydration. I had to take her to the vet twice, one was about $300 and the other one was about $500 in about a three month span. After that I had to do trial and error with canned wet foods that (since I became picky about what I fed her and she was suuuper picky too) cost about .85 - $1.50 pero can. I finally decided to try raw food with Darwin’s special offer for first time buyers (highly recommend) and that along with a few other things fixed the issue. Add all the money I spent in vet bills, foods that were discarded many times, medicines and the stress of watching your loved pet uncomfortable and in pain. It was terrible. I have successfully switched her to a raw food diet and there’s no going back for me. It is well worth the cost and I am willing to cut corners in other areas to be able to provide this for her. Thank you for the info, I will soon be diving into making it myself in order to lower the cost and to minimize plastic waste in which the food is packed.

Thank you for much for all your videos!! I got my first kitten bout 4 months ago, he is 8 months today. Hes thrived on a raw food diet, the only thing that has changed is he doesnt inhale his food in one sitting anymore. My question is, how long can you safely leave raw food out if hes alittle bit of a grazer? ❤❤❤

I have a question. I don’t want to feed my cats only chicken because I heard not mixing up the meats can lead to a chicken allergy. Last time I gave some raw beef to my cat Bella she threw up. I’m trying to figure out if it’s because I fed it cold from the fridge or if she just can’t tolerate beef.

Of you fed it cold that may be why your cat threw up it should be room temp.

No feeder mice, bro! I just bought 3 little white mice at the reptile pet store and my cats just looked at them and played a little bit. And let them run into bushes. One special cat and 12 tamed feral cats and nobody wanted to go in for the "kill"!!!!

Be careful the amount of raw food you give your cat. One cat eats like a dump truck with zero bathroom issues. My female petite cat can only eat a little raw at a time or she has bathroom issues aka pooping outside the litter box. Also my female cat can not take beef but my boy cat can. So be careful the sensitivity of your cats stomach. Took me some time to figure that out. But my female cat looks beautiful on raw cat food though.

Love your videos. I'm getting a sphynx kitten kitten named Stytch (from Lilo & Stitch) next month and hopefully will be starting my first batch mid-April. I want to get him on the raw diet but not sure how frequent he should eat in a day. My understanding is he will be able to eat this but needs more of it. I for sure can do three meals a day, not sure how much a kitten should eat in a day. Would 3 meals be ok, or should I get him to eat 4? I don't want to leave him dry food while on a raw diet. Sphynx breed happens to eat more than other breeds due to their high metabolism burning through it faster due to being hairless and being 4 degrees warmer than other cats. Thanks you so much. I was rewatching the first Q&A video and saw it was covered but not how much. I'll try to find also on feline nutrition's site.

One of my cats died from hyperthyroidism two years ago, (had to euthanize him, couldn't afford the $1,000 plus dollars for the "treatment"), and with all the garbage put into commercial dry cat food, have always wondered if his diet contributed to him developing the hyperthyroidism. Just now put my other 11 year old cat (who transitioned in only 2 weeks from commercial canned food to raw), and she's doing great! And,...YES - her poop doesn't stink!! Can't believe it!! :D
