Tips: first change from dry food to wet food, then add to wet food small amount of raw, stop free feeding, set regular time, have raw food for only 16m max outside, transition time can take 3 weeks or up to 6 months will depend on your pet behavior, be patient!!

i guess my cat's an exception? lol she took no time whatsoever to transition. the first time i gave her a piece of chicken heart as a treat, she almost ate my finger from how excited she got 😂😂😂 she loved it the moment i gave her the premade one i bought (primal turkey formula). she got tired of it or smth eventually so i had to change back to wet. definitely wanna go back to raw though!

What people don't get about raw food for cat is that you can use a few spice to enhance the taste just avoid garlic or Onion. You can also add pumpkin or any type of squash carrot and brocoli but stay clear from sweet potato since first cat cannot taste sugar of any sweet food and second sugar is not good for cat even sugar from fruit or veggie. Another excellent way to get them to eat the new raw diet is to sprinkle beer yeast on top of their raw food and i don't know any single cat who will not go crazy about beer yeast, both my cat lick my fingers until they are clean of beer yeast.

My cat had kibbles for about a month, then i totally changed to wet food, then my cat just started ignoring wet food. After i started noticing that he wasn't interested anymore I bought store raw meats and mixed and ate them as if it were no tomorrow. he loves raw.

great video. i have been transitioning my 2 fur babies from wet to raw. they are rescue cats ages 5 and were on dry food from the beginning of their life. one is a kibble junkie. so she has been more difficult for her to accept the wet food. crushing the dry is a great idea. so many helpful ideas.

Just wanna say thank you so much for making everything in details!! Though I’ve watched many videos from different people, and read many websites, I found yours the most helpful. I’ve been feeding my two kittens(brothers) raw food for two weeks now. Surprisingly it only took them a week to complete the transition from wet food to raw food! And I’ve noticed some very positive changes! Even when I used to feed them one of the best quality wet food, they eat a bit, leave, then come back again to eat more. For the raw food, it only takes them a minute to wipe out their bowls! And this is not an exaggeration because we’ve actually timed it 😂😂😂 Also their fur has already gotten even softer than before, and their poo tray does not smell at all!!! Their poo tray is in our en suite bathroom, and we used to be able to smell it while laying on our bed, but now we can’t even smell anything when we’re inside the bathroom. Thank you so much again!!!

I’m just now starting mine on raw, but they’re already used to eating wet food with Instinct brand grain-free, high protein kibble pressed into the top. I’m hoping that will make it easier. I’ll definitely be watching the warming how-to next. (They already have great coats and poops, both of which happened after I got them onto the Instinct. Before that, the smell could peel wallpaper.)

Thank you for this video. I have had cats from the age of 5 yrs old. I lose them on average of 11 yrs. I always believed that store bought foods were giving them cancer and wanted to transition them to a better diet. I currently have 3 over the age of 10. My male (Leo) is too skinny rarely eats, and litter mates Callie (diabetic) and Miss Tiger (medipausial over weight, snores). Callie (my bully when cutting up chicken, give me a piece now) cat, would not be a problem to transition to raw but the other's will take cunning. I started putting sardines in the food and will be removing the "free feeding". I will also try the cat nip idea. Miss Tiger has already stopped snoring (after a week) I'll bet it was food allergies. I think this is actually cheaper. I can't afford to feed Callie diabetic cat food and when I researched it they indicated that she would benefit from a high protein diet. Bless you for caring about our cats.

My cat's eat right out of the refrigerator basically! I try to at least take it out of the frigerator for 15 or 20 minutes but sometimes I'm I'm in a hurry. But they have no problem eating the cold. I would say that I feed them "chilled" raw food. No problem.

this is fantastic! i have a cat who was neglected a kitten and she has never eaten wet food. she's recently been diagnosed with asthma and i want her to start eating more healthy, but find it hard because she refuses to eat meats. it's so strange, she won't eat or lick chicken, turkey or anything. i hope this method will help her transition.

Will definitely try your tips. My 18ish yo family cat has been puking a lot lately, also meowing with a loud moan-like cry at certain times of the day.. He also seems depressed. Took him to vet several months back to get shot and check up; according to vet, he has stage 1 kidney fail.. I think it's his kibble food and the free-feeding unfortunately. I just found your channel & am ready to get started on the path to feeding my cats a healthier raw diet. First off, I have 10 indoor only rescues!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ What got me really thinking about diet is my Siamese (mix?) got very sick last November. On first site, the vet didn’t think she would make it 24 hrs. It also was during Thanksgiving week, so some days we were on our own. I’m an RN, so I’m comfortable with IVs & also giving any medications. She went from a 105.6 temp to vomiting to diarrhea & of course did not want to eat anything. I was giving her daily or twice daily supplemental fluids. Finally on day 8 she started to perk up & we all stood & watched her eat with tears running down our faces. Since then I have tried a freeze dried raw food which is extremely expensive & they were not pleased.

Broke my heart cause I couldn’t figure out if was from the kibble or from the wet food, she would eat them interchangeably throughout the day but now I know for a fact it was the kibble. My boy cat will literally eat anything lol he’s a MaineCoon so he has no stomach problems lol, But I made your raw cat food recipe, and I mix a little of the wet cat food with the raw food until I can just give them the raw food by itself, and they literally swallow it whole! i transitioned my cat from dry to homemade cooked over the course of a year and now he loves his cooked food. Can I transition to raw by cutting down cooking time so the meat has some cooked aspect and some raw until I can stay fully raw?

Guess I’m more absolute with my cat but to transition her, since she was already free feeding dry kibble and got wet food in morning and evening I first took away dry food, then the next change was making her hungry, she got her morning serving of wet food but not the evening and in the morning of the next day she got her wet food serving with the raw food encompassing 1/3 of the portion of wet food mixed together. She didn’t wanna eat that all day but I left it with her overnight and it was gone in the morning. Then I scale it up to half of the wet food potion being raw meat, as well as the whole portion of wet food, about an ounce was in each serving of wet. She ate all this too and now she’s good about eating quickly all her food, getting a bit over an ounce of wet food and 25g of raw food twice a day. Soon I’m changing it again to only one serving of wet with 25g of raw mixed in the morning and 30g raw meat in the evening.

Hey Jasmin!! Another informative video. I was in need of it last week. :P Stytch was a bit stressed from the plane trip and new setting that he didn't eat his food for about 24hrs. He ate very little and was getting concerned. Had to resort to dry food and worked back in the coming days to wet and raw. I have been having problems with Whole Food fulfilling my special ordered meats. Have you shopped at other stores? Whole Foods is the only place that would grind meats for me.

Aw yeah he was probably stressed ;( And it's good to know Whole Foods grinds for you! But I'm sorry they are the only place... I've only tried Publix in Florida. I have one go-to store because the willingness of the meat dept to grind things up totally depends on each store (I think I talked about this in one of the last Q+A's). My cat is going on 12 years old and I decided to transition him from kibble to raw 2 and a half weeks ago. I wish I had seen this video before, as I definitely didn’t go about it the right way. I took the kibble out almost entirely right away - I only gave him a tiny bit of kibble with a mix of raw meat and a soft wet food that I know he likes (because I sometimes give it to him as a treat). It took about 4 days before I was only throwing in 1 piece of kibble, and then was feeding just a mix of raw and wet food. I am still feeding him a mix, but I keep reducing the wet food gradually. That being said, I have to mash up the raw meat and even add water to it and mix it with the wet food. The wet food he likes has a mousse texture and he doesn’t seem to want anything but that texture. There are tiny pieces of what I assume is bone and/or organs in the raw food that I purchased and he refuses to eat them. I know he needs that nutrition and I don’t know how to get him to eat it. I tried putting the raw meat and the wet food in the blender, but I had to add quite a bit of water in order to get it to blend properly. He didn’t seem to like it, and I assume that’s because I watered it down too much. Help! :(

Hello! 😊 I'm also transitioning my cats to raw/homemade with the help and advice of a nutrionist vet. And something that I learned after one of them threw up, and you can read a lot about it online, is to never MIX kibble with the raw food. That is, don't feed a food that is high in carbs with the good quality food that is mainly protein. They have different digestion times. And it's not good for them. Dr. Karen Becker at MercolaHealthyPets also has very interesting videos of how to transition them and she has great tips. You can find them in KZbin!

Hi, new subscriber after finding your video on making the raw food. Regarding this video....I was told that a "domestic" cat needs to eat something every 3 to 4 hours because of the way their stomach acids work. That if they don't, they can get digestive problems including a sickness where they vomit their food back up all the time because the digestive system is no longer working correctly, (I had a cat I rescued like that, digestive problems after going long periods without proper food repeatedly). If true, then long periods (4-24) hours without food would actually harm them. I was told that is why they should always have some food whenever they want it because of the way their stomach acids work and so that the stomach acids don't cause problems with their digestive system. Was I misinformed?

I worry if I buy the chicken if it’s fresh enough, I don’t want him to get samolina . Can I use raw fish or meat? Big probmem.... Since I started raw feeding my cat doesn't eliminate nearly as often. She is on raw for about a week. I followed your recipe with psyllium husk. She took to it right away (shockingly). She didn't poop for 3 days and finally went last night. Her feces are very little, much harder and dry. Should I worry? Should I do 50% wet can food (3 oz) and 3 oz at night of homemade wet food? I use venison Ziwi Peak and Feline natural. I want her to be on raw 100% of the time BUT!! I really worry about her NOT eliminating for three days in a row and her feces being so small, hard and dry. THANK YOU JAZMIN for educating and helping us take better care of our kitties !

Violetta Andruszkiewicz i definitely suggest talking to your vet of course, especially if its on-going, but also make sure you're adding sufficient water to the food 😻 it could be due to using the psyllium husk. I hope your baby is doing better by now! And THANK YOU for watching!

+Violetta Andruszkiewicz No need to go to the vet. Vets know nothing about feeding raw. What you observed was exactly what's supposed to happen. They won't poop every day because there's no need to. They absorb so much of the nutritional value that there's very little waste. So the poops will be far less frequent and yes, small, dry, and hard. Also they don't smell. That demonstrates how little they absorb of cooked food and how much waste there is. Raw food is the best thing you can do for your cats.

When feeding your cat a raw food diet they will eliminate less. This is largely due to the fact their bodies are using more of what they eat. It's normal. Google away :D

Violetta, for heavens sake stay away from dry food. I lost one from serious bladder problems and than two others came down with bladder problems because of the chemicals in it. Also, do not use litter with chemicals. One of mine started having seizures shortly after I started using a chemically treated litter. Shortly thereafter, came down with cancer and died. My Vet told me of three of her other patients that had the same problem. All started having seizures.

Dry kibble, any kind of dry is an absolute no-no in my house. I have had three different cats come down with bladder problems throughout the years and each of those times have been years apart for extremely short periods. Like one week? NEVER AGAIN.

I got so stressed that I've been force feeding raw to my cat for a month now.... (before using chopstick and now using syringe) i know it's horrible I'm sorry but my cat is superrrrrr picky. The worst thing you can do is to force feed your animal any food they don't like, you will only create an aversion both to the food and mistrust in you (How would you feel is someone tried to force feed you broccoli every day?) You will most likely not be able to feed them that particular brand of food ever again. Patience really is key, and plz ignore what the woman in the video said about cat's fasting, because it is NOT true that they can easily go 12 and 24 hours without food. In fact, cats are the one animals that fasting for longer periods is the WORST for them, and I know this for a fact because my kitty had Feline Leukemia in his intestines and he had to eat every 1 1/2 hrs! So, I learned a lot about how cats eat and their digestion and everything. Remember, your kitty is his own person, and if he's not taking to a food after a week or so of gentle trying, try a different flavor, or a different combo. Get them used to the smell and taste, there are lots of little tricks and tips out there. It can takes weeks or months to transition them, so be gentle both with your kitty and yourself. I think that one of the reasons I like this channel is because they're not "dry" like so many others I've watched in the past. The host is down-to-earth, shoots videos in real-world situations, and she's freely sharing valuable information with us in real-world situations like these. I've learned tonnes here, and this channel is the reason I mustered the courage to try raw feeding in the first place. There are lots of other KZbin videos out there that you may like better, but none as comprehensive and consistently informative as CatLadyFitness in my experience and opinion.

cat eats mice, rats, birds.... do you think they cook it! Please feed your cat chicken heart and gizzards with some breast and small bone!! The cat will love you and then you can get away from the death kibble. We have all seriously been duped. Watch the documentary on Netflix called PET FOOLED. Good luck! Lots of research.

@@dustinmikesell7908 "DEATH KIBBLE" is sooo true. Causes bladder problems big time.Lost one fur baby that way, and it didn't take long. Another years later got into some dry, incurred bladder problem and she never used regular litter after that. Have to substitute rabbit bedding for that one cat which fortunately she uses to pee in and she still poops on the floor because I think she believes it was the litter that caused her pain. Not likely they will stop putting chemicals in litter that make cats sick. Money is more important to the manufacturers than the health of our pets.

@samuel escudero Boiling is the worst way of cooking the meat, as the taurine is water soluble and it will leave the meat. Roasting in the oven and using all the juices is best. I follow Lisa Pierson's method of partially cooking meat by roasting at 350F for 20 min, aiming for 10% surface cook to kill the surface bacteria; and use all the pan drippings in the food too.

The first time i tried transitioning my cats to raw i did exactly what u did (first time seeing this vid btw), put a tiny amount on their wet....they both VOMITED!! right away and then had terrible diarrhea. I have tried again with different brands, different proteins, making it..etc...they ALWAYS Vomit it and explosive diarrhea!! Why?? I want them on raw bc i believe is the healthiest. But they ALWAYS vomit and diarrhea. I have tried and tried...😞😪

Hello! 😊 I'm also transitioning my cats to raw/homemade with the help and advice of a nutrionist vet. And something that I learned after one of them threw up, and you can read a lot about it online, is to never MIX kibble with the raw food. And when I say MIXED it means either feed at the same time or even without some 8 hours apart. That is, don't feed a food that is high in carbs with the good quality food that is mainly protein. They have different digestion times. And it's not good for them. And it may cause vomiting, gases or diarrhea. Dr. Karen Becker at MercolaHealthyPets also has very interesting videos of how to transition them and she has great tips. You can find them in KZbin!

Really?! Don't mix raw food with kibble? I mix just a little bit of kibble. He seems to like just a couple crunches in there with the raw food maybe he thinks it's bone hes chewing on I don't know.But I heard somewhere on KZbin that it isn't that bad mixing the 2 together . of course I feed him a lot more raw food but I do feed him a little bit of kibbles. The moment this woman said, "Cats can easily go 8 to 12 hours, even 24 hours without food" I knew to stop listening. This is TOTALLY INCORRECT and very bad advice! For clarity's sake as well as every kitties health out there, BE AWARE that cats are the one animals that going without food for long periods or skipping meals, is actually NOT okay because of how their bodily systems are set up. A cat's metabolism breaks down amino acids at a very high rate, which means they require more protein in their diets (and why in the wild they will hunt up to 8 - 12 small meals a day). Other animals are capable of adjusting their rate of protein breakdown when less food is available but cats can not. Cutting back a cat's diet or calories should only be done in accordance with a prescribed diet by someone that can judge the health of your cat. "The More You Know" 🌟
