Hey John, what a faff a ring of 1/4" masking tape saves the mess on the seat then just use epoxy to build up a lovely collar perfect every time and finished without all that uneven collar to worry about, thought you yanks where good.....lol

Really Good video. Well done. If I may I would like to suggest a second step before you begin wrapping thread. If I feel my ramp isn't smooth enough I usually apply a coat of Flex Coat to help soften any divots that may be present. I gotta say, you do some great work. really appreciate your channel.

5 minute gorilla glue epoxy works great with some pigment. Pretty it up with threadmaster later works well, too.

You have to work fast. Put in on the dryer. It looks like one of those swirled bowling balls. I put a couple colors in usually. Cover with epoxy when finishing the thread. Evens and smooths things out.

Just few some on a rod last night. Red and black pigment. My brother is a Nebraska Conhusker fan and wants those colors. Should’ve used more black. When I cover in epoxy it will be more black. Fun to play with options.

You can eliminate all those peaks and valleys if you mold it w your finger covered in alcohol. Makes for a smooth ramp and shaped the way you like.

Do you let the paste set at all before doing this I tried it with fresh mixed propaste and it was way too sticky it all wanted to peel off on the popsicle stick
@reelbluecustomrods

No John, you don’t. I just apply the paste and then wet my finger to smooth it out. Hope this helps.

You’re spreading the epoxy the hard way. Get the base amount on it, then put it on the dryer and go ahead and put a thick glob on it. Use a blow dryer to spread it on the highest setting. It’ll pull all the bubbles and give you a silky smooth finish.
