More recently, I'd like to know if anyone else has used the Mod Podge to keep the stencils in place. Sprays are prohibited in our apartment complex so it will be great if a light coat of Mod Poodge will work but I'm worried that it would stick to the base and there would be problems in seperating the laminate from the plate. Anyone try it yet?
@terrymaracle93154 жыл бұрын
Try Aleenes Tack it over and over. A brush on glue that stays tacky. Can be found at Michaels in the glue section. Can be quit sticky, may need to make less tacky with pressing on a piece of fabric, this might work.

@@thekaywehtv @THEKAYWEH TV hi, I don't have the setting saved anymore since I reinstalled the program. But I always make a few test cuts before I make my project and then save it for the next time. It also depends on what kind of laminator sheets you use and if your blade is new or not.

You can order the mylar sheets on amazon etc and cut on your machine. I use favorite text to design words then use eraser to erase a small section of letter to add a bridge so the middle of letters like e a o p stay in place when stenciling. Reusable stencil. I do this a lot to personalize names on fabric etc.

You can use the stencil a few times & super easy to cut! Put the shiny plastic side down on mat to cut & of course, shiny side down on your piece to iron it on. Have fun!

Can you make the clear laminate page even thicker by adding perhaps a white or colored cardstock in between laminate sleeve ? That way - I’m sure it’s easier to see what your stencil is - or perhaps write or print title/info /design/ misc. on the cardstock or paper . Just a thought ... but definitely wouldn’t mind the thicker stronger material for sure !
@mishkajb5 жыл бұрын
Instead of cardstock, what about using onion paper? I would be worried that the thickness of the cardstock or even regular printer paper would let the paint bleed between the layers. Thoughts?

Once you cut a stencil with any material sandwiched inside, it's no longer sealed or waterproof. They do sell laminate sleeves in different thicknesses though. It really doesn't need to be thicker to work as a great stencil though. If you want it colored (as opposed to invisible ;) , you can use the plastic sheet dividers from Dollar Tree as someone else had mentioned.

If you use spray adhesive to keep the stencil in place. when you lift the stencil, do you have a sticky residue on your sign? how does that work?
@angelrutan84275 жыл бұрын
I think the trick is that when you spray the stencil with the adhesive, you let it "dry". It's not really drying because it remains tacky, but if you wait a short while after spraying, it stays on the stencil quite well. I've never seen or felt residue using spray. I use it very lightly! It doesn't take much if you are using the blot paint method. if you drag the paint, that's when there is danger of the stencil peeling up or paint slipping under the stencil.
