Last week I wanted to buy salt sev, but when I saw the price, I opt out, thinking to make my own, but I did not remember I gave away my sev maker to someone was here from Guyana thinking I will buy one when I visit in NewYork. I will definitely order your kind on Amazon. Thanks for sharing, it looks very delicious. Stay safe.

Thank you Bibi.. Yes it is quite pricey for a pack. I have been looking for a Sev maker for a while. This works well but it is not the correct size of holes. My husband had to open it up a bit. Have a great weekend ❤️❤️

Hi aunty Nadi, this is the first time I've seen salsev made without flour. That's pretty interesting and it looks good. Can I ask which part of Guyana you are from?
@NadisKitchen13 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa, I am from Skeldon, Berbice. I think with a Sev maker you can get away without adding flour. If you are doing it by rolling out and cutting into small pieces then you have to add flour. We usually call this method chicken foot. I various parts in Guyana do it differently. Either way both are quite yummy! Have a wonderful blessed weekend ❤️

I made your recepie of sal sev also with a potato ricer and it turned out great! The first batch I made was a little too hard as I fried it too long but when I took it out not too long it was great! I added more wirri wirri pepper and cayenne pepper… thanks for your very thorough recepie Nadi! Most of the recepies online has all purpose flour and I wanted to use only yellow split peas powder …,a lot tastier and healthier than with fillers like flour! My mom that passed away use to make it your way without flour! Can you please make sev with besan chick peas flour as well ? By the way do you know how to make ‘ break mouth cake’ Guyanese cake… my Neice mentioned my mom use to make beak mouth just like the coconut buns but no coconut and more flour… like Italian biscotti … I would love to have the recepie as I use to enjoy break mouth when I was growing up in Berbice … my mom use to make for our cake shop abd sell… I feel sad I never learned all those pastries she made for our shop in Berbice… thanks again nadi
@NadisKitchen13 жыл бұрын
Hi Indera, thank you so much 😊 .. yes it will definitely get hard when you let it fry too long.. lol ..had that experience too. It’s really addictive though once you start eating you can’t stop. You can definitely make it with chick peas flour too.. I am trying to remember the break mouth cake. I left Guyana when I was very little. I will find out more about it. I can definitely do a biscotti recipe. I am from Berbice as well.. yay!! What was the name of your mom’s shop? Stay healthy and safe ❤️

Hi Nadi good day my friend good to see you again looks so delicious I had that before one of my co worker is guyanese and she will always bring for me I want to try but I don't have a potato ricer is there any other way of making this because I love this it is very addictive once you start eating it so enjoy and keep safe and blessed day from Canada with love
@NadisKitchen13 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Farida, oh yes it can get really addictive.. lol.. there is another way that you can do it by adding flour to the mixture and form it into a dough. Roll it out and cut into tiny strips and desired length. You then fry it in oil.. Hope this helps.. have an enjoyable weekend..❤️❤️
@razeka623 жыл бұрын
Hi Farida, this is how my sis makes it for me to bring back to the states. She rolls it out like a roti but a little thicker and cook it for maybe 30-35 secs on each side. Then it becomes pliable and she easily cut it up with a scissor and fry.
