Scalloped Potatoes Cheese Sauce Ingredients:
3 tbsp or 42g Butter
3 tbsp or 42 g Flour
1 cup or 250ml Heavy Cream
1/2 cup or 125ml Milk
1 cup or 90g Grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Recipe for Scalloped Potatoes:
Scalloped Potatoes Cheese Sauce
4 Cups or 700g Potatoes (Russet - peeled, sliced 1/4 inch or 6mm thick)
Dash of Cayenne Pepper
1/2 cup or 45g Grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese
For this recipe, I used an 8 x 8-inch baking dish - buttered.
Cooked in oven at 350˚F or 176˚C uncovered for 1 hour.
Serving size is for 4-6 people

This looks fantastic! One point of clarity: scalloped potatoes doesn't have cheese--just white sauce (and there is usually some onion in with the potatoes). Potatoes AU GRATIN has the cheese sauce.

Thank you for watching. There are many different scalloped potatoes recipes out there. This recipe is a basic yellow cheddar sauce recipe. Some have ham or bacon or onions or herbs like thyme or chives. Some use white cheddar for a white sauce. There are so many options. They are all so tasty. 😋 The classic au gratin potatoes is a little different. The potatos are simmered in milk with a bouquet garni, nutmeg and a dash of salt. Then the potatoes are placed in a dish that has been rubbed with garlic and butter. Heavy cream is poured over the top of the potatoes and grated gruyere cheese is sprinkled on the top of that. Really you can't go wrong either way. Both are fantasticly delicious. Thank you for your feedback. 👌👍
