An easy recipe for Moroccan Bread that will exceed your expectations. Simple moroccan bread made fresh everyday and baked in public wood ovens !!!

This recipe requires: 4 h 45 min. (Only 1 Hour of actual work, the rest is waiting for the bread to proof or cook)
Ingredients:
200 g (7.05 oz) All purpose flour
200 g (7.05 oz) Fine Semolina
240 ml (8.12 fluid oz) Water (Room Temperature)
15 g (0.53 oz) Granulated sugar
8 g (0.28 oz) Active Dry Yeast
8 g (0.28 oz) Baking Powder
7 g (0.25 oz) Sea salt
Optional:
25 ml (0.85 fluid oz) Vegetable Oil
Cooking time/temperature:
18 min @ 180 C / 350 F

😂we also live in Canada and my husband Moroccan. To do this color of bread in my oven it takes 23min 😅 but it's so good. Chokran

@@KuzinaWithSimo I from Holland Amsterdam born in the Caribbean. I kinda got interested in Moroccan kitchen cuz I have these Moroccan friends. Somewhere early 90s a Moroccan mom made this Moroccan chicken for me and sellou. It was right after ramadan that year. I learned how to cook several tajine dish allows the years. I now own 2 tajines, 1 Kidra and 1 tangia marachia. Recently for Christmas i made sellou for the first time. Moroccan kitchen is sublime. Thanks for sharing the Moroccan bread recipe. This just popped up on FB, so I came to YT to watch. I can almost smell it here. Anyway, if one wanted to make sandwiches with this bread, how would you suggest it be sliced?

Thank you for watching. So cut in in half, you can use one of the scores. Then open it up like a pocket. So you will have a crust all around and the soft inside, where you can fill it up . I hope that helps. If not, tag me on facebook and I will show you a picture :)

I travelled to Spain long ago. The food was awful. Crossed the Straight into Morocco, and my most lasting food memory was how delicious the bread was! I have just started making bread, and will definitely try this. Thank you.

​@@KuzinaWithSimo Thank you. I do have a question about semolina. I know there are different kinds. All I can find near me is semolina flour. ( for pasta) . What is the ideal type of semolina?

@@ynge8046 actually semolina is also used to make pasta and Italian semolina is really good. So you are in a good place 😊. I would use fine semolina and I would say any fine semolina of good quality would do 😊

What do you mean "optionally" you can add oil? Do I need to reduce the amount of water??

1 or 2 teaspoons of oil are optional. In Morocco, most people don’t add oil and do not reduce the amount of water ! 😄

In the future could you use cup measurements and tablespoons at least in description box? I have tried a few of your recipes and I have never got them to work because its quite confusing when transitioning the recipe measurements.

Actually I do recommend getting a small scale with grams. It is really hard getting recipes to work with cup measuring. It’s very inconsistent. Baking is so precise that you need grams or ounces. I had the same issue when I was living in the US. It’s my honest suggestion. All serious bakers use grams/ounces and a scale to make sure you are true to recipe. 😊

@lahannah1224 True. But a small scale is a game changer in baking. I promise you that ! Measuring/weighting water is also very important.

It’s optional but it helps keep the crumb little softer and fluffier.

Active dry yeast. That’s what we have in Europe. It doesn’t need activation. I never tried instant rising yeast. Not sure how different it is. 😅
