This series of cutting-to-bonsai was really great. Realistic in knowing it's going to take 10+ years, but seeing the path from beginning to end makes me much more confident and excited. Thank you Bjorn!

"... you can have a beautiful little Shohin in a very short period of time." Cutting + 7-8 years to first major styling, then 2 years to the second styling with a repot in the middle, then 4-5 years of refinement before exhibition = 15 years give or take. A short period of time in this hobby. (*snort*..."hobby") I love this tree and was just thinking about it last week. Thanks for the update - looks beautiful as ever. ❤️

Lol just started watching these, the KZbin algorithm pointed me here because of all the SerpaDesign I’ve watched. What a fascinating dude. It’s like he was built and named by the Vikings, raised by the Americans, and trained by the Japanese. Lol I’ve never done bonsai in my life, but watching this guy do it is quite enjoyable! Maybe the next time I’m in TN I’ll check out the nursery…

Really good, Bjorn. Nice instruction. I really appreciate the approach to pad design as opposed to the excessively flat image that many have pursued over the last decade.

In my experience: yes. Pruned it back 6 weeks ago and now has tons of new growth from the interior

Check next to where they sell weedkiller, fertilizers and disease treatments. I found it as a treatment intended to be watered down (but just brush it on undiluted)

Hello Björn I saw your skills on KZbin on how to build a tokonoma I would like to put one too. Do I really to have that wood exported from Japan or do you just get it everywhere I come from the Netherlands?? I hope to receive your feedback. Thx Regards Eddy

How do you get it so thick but so small? When I do it it has massive scars and no branches or back budding. I can’t find specific information on my trees and starting to want to give up. It’s always popular species and never different types

Could you show us thuja occidentalis Rhein gold. There’s no really quality videos on this type of thuja and it’s my best tree right now. No one has good bonsai information on this specific species and it’s got totally different foliage then juniper or other thuja species. I’m so lost and I want to take care of my specific tree as it’s one of my best ones I’ve wired and created
