How to make Snow / Ice bases - Multibasing Kings of War Northern Alliance

Those bases turned out great. Really appreciated the layering of the slate and the putty and then the sand and pebbles. Learned from that for sure!

Thanks! I've recently added some Vallejo Water Texture on top of all of the snow to make it glisten, it looks more like a wet snow now which I think looks better. Also, no noticeable yellowing at all

Thanks! I'm having fun expanding the army. Got Huscarls, lord on frostfang, cavern dweller and an ice queen painted up and based and a giant and ice elementals in the works- should have some more KoW videos soon but been busy painting and playing!

Maybe for next bases you can pin them to the bases, but before you glue them (with the pin) you stick them into the snow :D.

Hmm, it didnt occur to me at all to apply and let the snow set and then pin through it once set! I don't know if it will look better as a final result but yes that's definitely going to be a good option. Certainly less annoying! Thinking about it- you could do it like that, then add a tiny bit of snow to the underside of the feet when pinning the models to make the feet blend into the snow a bit. As long as the snow colour/texture you add to the feet is the same as whats on thr base that'll look good

@@NoProcrastinationMiniatures I know its a older vid, but why not just make your pins longer, that way you can push pin slightly in, put snow down, then slide mini home

Yeh I think that would be a good compromise, especially if the base has a decent amount of height from greenstuff/milliput etc. As an update, I've played about 20 games now and the packhunters and clasmen have been fine. I've been reasonably careful and have only had to re-glue one model back onto the base. I think the multibasing helps as you're not picking the unit up by grabing the model, but holding the base edges instead

I'm not to sure about that huge height to the bases. That would look super weird on the table if someone does a rear charge and is standing up against a massive wall of base.

Yeh that's a downside with anything built up like this. I'm rubbish at KoW so get rear charged quite often 😂

@@NoProcrastinationMiniatures I've just started printing out a Dwarf Army. Wasn't sure if I wanted to go the GW route again or go Kings of War or One Page Rules. Consensus seems to be that KoW is the best game system so I'm going to multibase after seeing your videos.
