Ingredients:
servings:6
Please Double the recipe for more servings
4 large sweet potatoes
1 cup brown sugar ( divided )
1 cup white sugar ( divided )
2 tbs vanilla
1tbs cinnamon
1tsp nutmeg ( optional )
2tsp salt
2 tbs water
1/2 stick butter ( cut into cubes)
notes
Please adjust cooking time as needed
Be sure to cook the yams on medium to low heat to prevent the Bottom of the yams from scorching*

Oh praise the Lord, I found you! I watched this video back when we are all in COVID lockdown, and I made this sweet potato recipe for my immediate family that Thanksgiving. Lady, it was the BEST thing we ever tasted, hands down! We're having Thanksgiving for our grown kids today, and I realized I had never saved this video. Took me forever to find it, but I wasn't ABOUT to make anybody's recipe but YOURS. To everyone else, trust the process. You are going to want stir it, but DO NOT DO IT. For your patience, you will be rewarded with the most old school delicious caramelized sweet potatoes you've ever had in your life, I promise. Can't wait to dig into these in a couple hours. I just made these and it's the first time I've ever cooked fresh sweet potatoes and they are so good. Make sure you dry them before you cook them because she's telling the truth about them putting off a lot of water. This is a great recipe

I have a testimony: I was a bit skeptical when I saw this candied yams recipe(I’m from South Africa originally so we never cook sweet potato like this) then I made this today exactly the way you did with your Lemon pepper spatchcock chicken and Your collard greens recipe and some cornbread. @@brittanymiddleton4588 I used unsalted butter, but then I do that for everything because I'm watching my sodium. But remember that you add a pinch of salt near the beginning, so unsalted might be your best bet anyway.
