And the smell of fresh okra. Then she would cut and fry it for supper. That would be my last meal food if I could choose it. Mmm mm mm

Cool stuff I love Fried Okra and yours looks absolutely delicious! Any particular reason for just egg whites instead of eggs? I hate separating eggs and throwing out the yolks would that be a big difference in the final product?

Thank you Geno! You can use the whole eggs. I used the egg whites to make the recipe healthier! Using the egg yolks would probably give it more flavor! Give it a try and see!

It's very popular down South, but maybe not so popular in Louisiana...I suppose.... If you can find some green tomatoes at a grocery store, or market that has a variety of produce, give it a go! You will not be disappointed!

Don't eat them raw.. lol....the tomato is green before it ripens that's all.... it'll be hard, so that's why it's fried....the way you prepared the fried okra made me think that could also be a great preparation for fried green tomatoes, since they are battered in the same way with cornmeal and everything....I read that you have to slice them at least a half inch thick, and not too thin, and not too thick, otherwise it won't cook properly.....so, yeah.... You'll love fried green tomatoes if you love fried okra!

Hello Byron! Thanks for the compliment! The thing that makes okra so special is the flavor, texture and how it got it's name. Love it. I gotta have fried or baked okra at least once a month. I love the baked okra though.
