I live a semi-monastic (Orthodox Christian) life in a rural area. I Grow my own food and cook it. No meat. Observe the fasts.. I just found and subscribed to your channel. I could eat spanokopita everyday. Yours looks delicious. Ill be trying your others reciped as well. Thank you for the instruction.

I missed the having to wait at the end! It took me a long time running back and forth to see what I needed to do next. AND of course I had to come down sick. I just put it in the oven but it's almost 7PM I guess I will have to eat something else, something fast and easy.

Thank you for the recipe! I am going to make this with swiss chard from my garden instead of spinach. I know that is not the standard, but I need to do something with all this chard!

My yiayiathes (in-law) use mint rather than parsley. I add chopped green chilli. It’s such a wonderful dish because you can throw in herbs you love

Thank you for this recipe and telling us why you need to add oil between every sheet. No one else told me why!!! I love the rice and the water trick on top! I am going to make this tomorrow evening! We just came back from Santorini and I was only able to try this at the airport, sadly. AND for breakfast!!!! It was the best Spanakopita I have ever eaten!!!

Thank you! I bought the phyllo pastry from a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean shop and I am afraid I cannot remember the brand. Any brand will do however :-)

Spanakopita is usually eaten at room temperature, although and depending on individual tastes, some people like it warm. I would keep it in the fridge in an airtight container. Thank you

I think it will be fine if you finely chop the onions. The reason we cook them is to soften them but if you finely chop the onion it should be fine too. Good luck
