When you are cutting the last bit of the onion tip it over so it sits flat on the chopping board and continue to slice it. Makes cutting the last bit safer for your fingers.👍

Hi Michael. Thank you for another brilliant video. I'm curious to know why you don't use MSG in your dishes. Are you anti-MSG or are you just happy with the flavours of what you cook without needing it?
@ChowWithLau2 жыл бұрын
Hi Stuart! You’re welcome - really happy you like them. I’m not anti msg - it definitely makes a difference to flavours. I guess I am happy with the flavours that I get, and I don’t want the controversy to affect my videos. I want to make a video about msg but I need to do more research to be confident about giving good information. From what I have seen so far it seems that msg is not harmful but I want to be sure. Thanks for your question 😊

That knife is so dull that it's dangerous.
@ChowWithLau2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your concern, Esteban. Now I’m not saying that my slices of meat are wafer thin but they are fairly thin. A knife that’s dangerously dull or blunt would not be able to cut like that. Again, I wouldn’t call it razor sharp but it’s definitely not as blunt as you say. Having said that my knives would benefit from a session on my whetstone in the near future. Not had time recently but it’s been on my radar. I’ve been considering making a video to cover that so watch this space 👍

Baking soda. Not baking powder. Different items. Soda has a horrid taste and can be used mixed in water to settle bad acid reflux. Baking powder doesn’t have that horrid taste. It is bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) mixed with tartaric acid (cream of tartar) and corn starch. Usually that is the combination but it is possible to find baking powder with other ingredients as well. Both are leavening agents but baking powder already contains the acid needed to activate the bicarbonate of soda. You just need to add liquid. Regular baking soda requires another acid to be used in the recipe, such as vinegar.

I understand your passion to change your life direction. You need to speed it up. I want to tell you about another chef who you can learn from. I don't want to say her name in case your followers leave.

Hi Caroline, thanks for your comment. KZbin isn’t a change of my life direction - for me it’s a hobby that started because I needed to do something during lockdown. It has so far exceeded any expectations because I still don’t have any. All I want to do is share mine and my family’s recipes. To have over 5000 subscribers is something I still find unreal but am extremely grateful for. The speed of my videos is something I’m comfortable with as I feel I give the detail required for people to follow my recipes, even if they are complete novices. I’m not chasing views or subscribers so that allows me to make videos that I believe are as helpful as they can be. If you’d like to tell me about other chefs, I’d be happy to hear about them. My followers are free to follow whoever they want. Thank you again for watching and your feedback - it is always appreciated 😊
