Thanks for some interesting tips! I >always< use the second envelope (exponential lfo in trig mode assigned to the tune), I find it makes a really big difference in having a "finalized" feeling. The other hidden weapon in there is the peak filter, sounds great on kicks!

@@audioreakt i use my elektrons for creating drumloops basslines and fx sounds in my djsets. I play always with 3 traktor decks on 3 line channels (allen &heath xone 96) line 4 : channel for analog four (4 channels for drums and sounds and midichannels to my Neutron and Dfam) Channel D for digitakt (8 sound channels for drums and sounds and midi for my virus TI 2) . The first return channel for my analog rytm. For fx and extra sounds i use my octatrack the inputchannels are used for the 2 send channels of the xone the output goes to my last return channel. I only make loops on my maschines no tracks i don't have time enough (2kids and work). And i love deejaying! With this setup i can fill drum, bass, synth lines, fx sounds and fx into my mix so every track becomes something new. The octatrack is used in my dj setup as fx and for some samples When i am not deejaying i use the octatrack as recording box for sampling my synths sounds (normally for the neutron and dfam because they have no memory) and for FX box. The octatrack is a multitool that you can use in a very simple way or you can use it in full capacity (deep diving menu's ) I had always a hate love relation with the octatrack But since i stopped deep diving in the machine and used it for what i described above the relation is excellent! Sorry for my bad english but i'm a Belgian guy!
@audioreakt3 жыл бұрын
sorry just saw the reply now... thanks for detailed setup, sound amazing, yeah a lot of people seems to use the octatrack like a daw (especially like ableton ), like a multitool machine that can sequence, play loop, send fx etc, make transition etc... I think if you want to go dawless it's a great tools, Stimming said in a video he was using it as replacing of ableton, to play playback track for example...

I didn't see at the end of the video, "Rytm vs Mbase11 vs Lancet". Did it get cut off? I'm curious about your thoughts comparing the Lancet Kick to the Rytm. :-)
@audioreakt3 жыл бұрын
yeah it get cutoff becuase too long and not 100% revelant after all... in term of sound I still prefer the rytm because more versatile and easy to make 909 like kick. Lancet it's great for deep round kick and it's a lot of fun too, as 1 knob per parameter. I made a review of the lancet check it out by yourself ;)
@tobiasflc6303 жыл бұрын
thanks for the helpful video! I'd like to see a video how you create baselines with the rytm itself. :) And how do you make sure that the massives kicks / baselines from the rytm are not making your whole mix muddy? Do you low cut and resampling them?
@audioreakt3 жыл бұрын
here are two more in depth video I made : kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppWkiKV-p9tmkJo & kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppPHqJd5h8R8kJY . But for the mixing part it really depend which kick you choose to fit with which bass. but if you have a heavy basseline maybe apply an lfo on the amp volume to create a ducking effect and see if shoertening the decay of your kick help too. if its muddy or feel out of phase they might be not in key which can be a problem too. all of these are just guidance, it doesn't mean you have to do itall of them for each song, but when you have a problem it can be tools that can improve your mix.

I had great results when layering multiple machines or even samples with this synth. You should try that too.

Hey I always doubted that my rytm mk2 engines have some problems. So I compared a sound of BD Classic with the same parameters to your's, it sound different, even the waveform is different. Do you do any processing to your sound outside of the rytm? Thanks
@audioreakt3 жыл бұрын
No there is no external processing, check the velocity, level (at each stage), drive on the amp section, drive/compression on the master, check if you don't have a LFO somewhere (for the kick track and for the master track)
@Kaze-p8x3 жыл бұрын
@@audioreakt Thanks. I made sure everything was in its default state, no lfo, dist or compressor applied. Usually, reported issues are system bags, can analog circuits be damaged ? It's not a topic under this tutorial, sorry for that.

rytm or tr-8s for techno ?
@audioreakt3 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, I would say the rytm, but the kick engine is wild, the double vco open to a lot more possibility than just drums, I would recommend to check the hats/cymbal engine on the rytm as they are very metal and noisy, I love them but might not be everyone cup of tea. Tr8s you get the more classic (but sounding so good) xOx sounds...I just made a review of the tr6s , check it out, I also made couple video with the Rytm, you can compare both sound. But both are great, and any you choose you won't regret it, very complementary ... I have the rytm and tr6s and love both
@burger6593 жыл бұрын
@@audioreakt thanks!! I would love an analog kick drum.. but i have to say that the tr8s has some pounding kicks as well.. if you boost it with analog stuff.. should be fine.. i had a rytm mk1 in the past , loaded 909 samples in it but tune parameters doesn’t behavior as good as the Roland acb ..

@@burger659 to be honest I rarely use sample with the rytm as I used it for creating drum from scratch...don't really know how it handle pitching sample...yeah the acb is pretty good, that's exactly why I bought it, and I was not deceived !

Well I never played with a real 808 or 909 but the rytm can imitate them really well and even do more !
