Learn why and how to make the 9-ball on the break. Stop giving free games to your opponents via a Golden Break! In this video, I show what gaps are responsible for the 9-ball traveling straight towards the corner pocket after the break. Also, I demonstrate a way to gap-rack to make the 9-ball on the snap consistently with a magic rack. By Jake from World of Pool and Billiards.
Thanks for watching. Watch until the end of the video for a sneak listen to one of my upcoming videos! Don't forget to like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video.

I have practiced the 9 ball break more than most have spend playing pool & did a statictical study on the 9 ball break in college. Then if you add in all the 9 ball breaks I’ve watched others hit it’s been in the millions. I was always amazed when the 9 rolled straight in to the left or right corner. What a sight and like what caused that. Lol. Good video. Cheers

I play in a CPA league (and if you don't know the rules, 9 on the break is a guaranteed 2 points and new rack), and I've gotten so many 9 breaks just from people not racking tight. I also got an 8 break once on an experienced player who should have known to rack tighter. I would say most people that play in the league don't even know that loose racks raise the chances of a 9 break substantially. I've only ever given an opponent a 9 break once because I know how to rack, but the equipment (the rack and table themselves) make it extremely difficult to keep everything tight. Thanks for the information, now it all makes sense!

You could use this to try to make the 9 run towards the corner with pocket speed. So if you're playing a guy whos significantly better than you or something, you can try to set up for an easy early combo (and just hope you make another ball somewhere). Just a thought if you really needed to 'go for broke'.

@WorldofPoolandBilliards
@WorldofPoolandBilliards 4 жыл бұрын
Dupree's video is the reason I made this video. It is a clear example of people not understanding why the 9-ball heads straight towards the corner pocket with the break that he performed. It has much less to do with where you break from, and everything to do with how you rack. If you watched the entire video, I demonstrate making the 9-ball on the break multiple times in a row and show you the exact gaps in the rack that cause the 9 ball to go that direction. I would like to see you make a video using a perfect rack and breaking the way Dupree did to make the 9-ball on the break... cuz its not going to happen.

My only complaint is why figure this out with a gap when a real game will be all frozen. You aren't figuring it out this way. Won't benefit a real situation unosyou figure it out on a perfect rack
@WorldofPoolandBilliards
@WorldofPoolandBilliards 5 жыл бұрын
So, the original reason I did this was because I would lose a lot of games when not using a magic rack and racking for my opponent. I knew that gaps being present were the issue, but they were impossible to get rid of completely. So, I set out to figure out which specific gaps were responsible for this occuring. Now that I know, haven't given up another automatic 9 ball on the break to anyone by focusing on keeping the 2 balls behind the 9 frozen.

This is also beneficial to know where the gaps are in case u or your opponent leaves a cluster after the break, knowing where the gaps are and how the balls will move will make it much simpler to call a shot out of the cluster (under the right conditions)
