Thank you for sharing this video❤ I’m going to try this for my neighbor. Just a little TIP-if you add a bag of vital wheat gluten to your pantry, you’ll never be without bread flour. For every cup of all purpose flour, remove one tablespoon and replace with one tablespoon of vital wheat gluten. Works like a charm 😊 The finished product looks beautiful, I can’t wait to try it. Gods blessings on your week!

I have tried this bread in the past. I am so excited to try your recipe, and your braid was beautiful! I had leftovers so I jumped in and cut it a little thin and made my husband some Frenchtoast with it. It was very nice, just keep the slices on the thinner side. Again congrats on the beautiful bread.

Hi Amy! I'm a first time viewer of your channel and I must say your 6-braid Challah is amazing. I've been baking Challahs for a very long time, but never tried the 6-braid. Whenever I've watched other KZbinrs make this 6-braid I get so confused that I give up, but You have made it so easy to understand. Now for sure I will do the 6-braid Challah. I've pinned you so I can always find this recipe. Thank you so very much. Shalom!!!

It would then be brioche, not challah. No dairy is put in challah.. this video makes braided bread not challah because the ritual of taking a portion, a challah, was not taken and incinerated in the oven. There's alot lot more to challah than just braiding dough.
@alli6271 Жыл бұрын
Challah is not supposed to be made with butter since butter is considered dairy. I'm jewish and you can't eat meat and dairy together, so that's why challah does not have any dairy.

I made one today. I baked it 35 minutes. By the time I took the bread out of the oven, it was huge, rose high, however, a few minutes later, it all went flat. I wonder why? But the texture was so good! It was a hit in today’s Easter lunch party! Thank you!
@Anarchyerasure2 жыл бұрын
I found out as I made it today that it has to go in the oven WAYYY longer , I put it in for 35 minutes and it was not baked on the inside that is why it went flat for you . I think I put the bread in the over for around 50 minutes the first 35 minutes being at 180 and then cutting it down to 160

You're fun to watch and wonderful at what you do. That Challah looks perfect and perfectly delicious. How many servings would this recipe yield? Can you bake two at once? How may I prepare the batter without a mixer like yours (I retired mine years back)? Can they be frozen and for how long? I visited your KZbin channel after seeing your Instagram account. Using the name "Neurotic Mom" was reason enough for me to visit your page. Side note: one day, as my son was studying for his Masters of Social Work, he told me that I'm neurotic. All I could say to him was that he never needed a degree to figure that one out LOL and that, in fact, everyone is neurotic. I'm going to DM a few suggestions on your IG account for Challah baking. Thanks. Sue

It is a wonderful video! For my health Can I cut down on salt? How little It is? Next can I use Olive or avocado oil or not? Thanks
@christinekaye63933 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use olive oil. I'm not sure about cutting the salt. She uses 1 tablespoon (17 grams) so, if you get 12 slices out of a loaf, that's 1/4 teaspoon (about 1.5 grams) per slice. Hope that helps.
@marlaa23622 жыл бұрын
I am not sure if this measurement is for active dry yeast, or instant yeast. I'm going to try my first yeast bread -this challah and I don't know if measurements same for each type. Thank you.

Hi Amy tried this recipe. Shred yesterday. Let it rise for 2 hours then out it in fridge for 24 hours. Also,added Half cup sugar. Did 4 strand method. After 40 minutes of baking thought it was finished nope. After cutting into slices the 6 middle slices on one particular little spot we’re not baked enough. Next time I will bake 50 minutes. You're not supposed to cut challah, you break it apart and it is served on Erev Shabbat with a special meal to commorate G-d 's creation and to acknowledge Him as the creator of Heaven and earth and to bless each family member usually it has seeds on it. Shabbat shalom 🙂. Your braid was awesome. It would be nice to see a whole wheat challah or a multi grain challah, what do you think...?
