My family has made this cake for decades. The only difference in the recipes is we always add 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon to the dry ingredients. Try it sometime...it's a great flavor combination and makes it even more special than it already is.

No, it has to be sheet cake which is about 10”x15”. I just made one 2 days ago, and for sure you need the larger pan, otherwise it’ll be thicker and then the cooking temp and time won’t be as per the recipe states anymore. Perhaps if you put it in a 9x13 and a bit more in another small pan over and above the 9x13. It’s only about 1.5”inches high.

Should the choc. mixture cool more so not to kill the soda?

We’ve never had a problem with it that way, but it also wouldn’t hurt to let the mixture cool a little bit first.

It tastes much better the next dry. And you are supposed to cover with foil after you frost it, and cool completely so the icing and the cake come together as one.

Make sure your chocolate mixture is cooler then whats she did. The eggs might cook if its too hot.
