1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
2 teaspoons Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Salt
2 large Eggs room temperature
8 ounces (227 g) Buttermilk, 1 cup
8 ounces (227 g) Hot Coffee (or hot water), 1 cup
4 ounces (113 g) Vegetable Oil, 1/2 cup (Add 1 extra ounce for a moister cake)
2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

3 ounces (85 g) Powdered Sugar, 3/4 cup
1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

I made this cake today. Now I know what she meant by "work fast" because as I was ready to put the cake in the freezer, the middle layer of ice cream started melting and the frosting began to separate. Also the the measurement for the stabilized whipped cream and chocolate ganache is excessive. You can get away making half the amount and it'll still be enough for the cake. Still, thanks for this wonderful recipe. It was easy to follow and looks like it was made by a a professional. My 4 year old son keeps saying, "this is the best birthday ever!" So thank you for that, Liz! Update: I just wanted to add that I used Hersheys special dark + the hot coffee and the chocolate flavor came out a little too intense (adults enjoyed it but the kids did not). Hershey cocoa would probably work better. This cake recipe is moist and dense for those that are wondering.

Made this cake this weekend and it came out amazing! The whipped cream has little bits of gelatin, so not sure what I did wrong there but other than that, it looks beautiful and was so easy to make following your tuturial!!!

Ive definitely had the frosting problem many times. It might be making gelatin pieces if your whipped cream is too cold, or your gelatin is too hot. Make sure to make their around the same temperature and slowly add the gelatin :)
