😊 you've been doing a very good job by teaching these people about that part of the eggs. From I have sense I've seen my MOM remove it from WHATEVER she was doing with eggs and that's why I don't eat fried eggs from no one and no yolks for me. Thank you sir. 🙏 blessings from God.

Inspite of you not giving me a taste of 5he good old Jamaican fruit cake I also learn from you that you can remove the eye of the egg to reduce the rawness. I never like egg because it was too raw but not too long ago I made some scrambled eggs and I remove all that white stuff from it and it was awesome. I didn’t even realize I was eating eggs. Thanks for sharing that

The best way to remove the eggs eye is to whisk the eggs and pour it true a strainer in that way it will also catch any eggs shell

For that recipe , yes. You could add fruit wine if you like . Some persons do, some don’t . The traditional recipe uses Red label wine and Wray and nephew rum.

Marly, that's because these cakes are not normally cut until a few days to a week after baking/ filming to facilitate the soaking with rum and wine. Also we want to upload as soon as possible so persons can prep and be able to bake this cake for Christmas. That's what I explained at the end of the video. I am sorry the thumbnail doesn't show the texture clearly.

Just FYI, those white things (which I also remove from any egg before using), are NOT the rawest part of an egg, and leaving them indoes not result in a baked produce being raw. These white stringy parts are called the ' Chalazae' they hold the yolk fixed to either end of the shell. It is so that if a chick is to be formed the yolk will remain anchored. When the egg is cracked the chalazae breaks and remains fixed to the yolk, it actually circumferences the yolk, removing it often results in the yolk breaking. 🇬🇧

Hi Jennifer, if you read the recipe , it was just 3 table spoons of browning and that mixture was for two 9 inch cake. The browning used was way less than any recipe you would find out there. Look at the cake before I added the rum and you will see the color better.
