Love that ribbon burner. The heat looks so much more even than on my 2 burner forge. Any reason why you didn’t use the insulation in the top of the forge vs pouring the slurry?
@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio4 жыл бұрын
ManCraftingTM thanks , i poured the refractory slurry for a few reasons first it locked in the bricks then i could cast in my tapered ribbon Burner so i can remove it or replace it at anytime. I also used the thinner insulation on top of it before i welded the top on . The thinner stuff actually has the same insulating properties as the thicker stuff. I don’t like having the blowing heat directly on the insulating blanket like some people make there forges , that fibrous material is terrible for you to breath in . Thanks

I finally finished my ribbon burner forge couple days ago and have been slowly heating it to cure the refractory. Wondering if you could possibly do a video going over the fuel air mixture for flame adjust. Mostly wondering what my flame pattern should look like. Thanks in advance any tips or advice would be great.

I would like to get a parts list for this forge & ribbon burner. I already have a coal forge and would like to expand my operation so my son and I can get more out of our time of getting stuff HOT and hitting it Hard (With a Hammer). Nice design, are those fireplace bricks or the softer lighter ones used in kiln and other forge designs? Where did you get the thinner ?Ceramic felt? Thanks
@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, they are not your typical fireplace brick , but are similar in weight but have a high temp rating of over 2000deg , the kiln bricks or lighter bricks tend break easily when exposed to propane forges . I got the thinner refractory felt from a supplier called smelko. Thanks

Great work. The gas/air input in the final part of the video is different that what you showed earlier. Did you scrap that design and I assume the final setup with elbow for forced air works best. Thanks great work. Jim Overstreet

jim overstreet i have both but i do find for forge welding the forced air gives me more heat faster i use the NA mostly for heating up for forging when i don’t need the high temp thanks

what gauge sheet metal did you use, would using bricks as the roof of the forge work as well, and is that brick inside the forge towards the end a hard refractory brick instead of the softer white ones you used for the walls
@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio3 жыл бұрын
The sheet metal is 1/8” thickness and you could use the brick on top i just chose to use refractory cement because my ribbon burner has a taper and i needed it cast to make it fit right . I used all hard brick for the entire forge

I would really appreciate the exact measurements for your forge and ribbon burner. I like your design. I am curious though about one thing. How did you get that piece of sheet metal that was holding up the refractory cement out after it set up. Seems like it would be stuck in there. I started building a forge a couple of weeks ago. My burners are different. I may change to ribbon burner after seeing how yours works. Great job guys.

I like your design. I have been doing the same ribbon burner type of set up. How are you regulating it and are you using propane? How long is the hose from the bottle to the needle valve and what size orifice are you using. What is your bottle pressure and what are you regulating down to for the burner. Thanks again.

@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio4 жыл бұрын
statix108 hi , yes it does get up to forging temps you may want to be careful i melted a 2000deg brick because i let it get to hot . I put the bricks on the front and back they act like doors to help keep heat in thanks
