My grandmother used to play "Dirty Sally" for Old Miner Days at the Robin Hood Inn in Big Bear California in the 1970s. She used to let me sit at the bar and drink Roy Rodgers. But every now and again she'd give me a sip of her Grasshopper. Great video!

As a child of the '60s I recall visiting a favorite uncle around 1965 and all the kids and men folk went out to the lake for the day. My mom and aunt stayed home to relax and later do some dinner prep ..... well apparently after several grasshoppers dinner prep took some unusual turns and family history was made. I believe we ended up ordering take out ..... Great video - love your production values and the all the history.

My mom has been drinking these my entire life, and I'm in my 50! She started drinking alcohol in the late '50's, when my father was in the ARMY. The stories of the military wives parties on base are famous! I'm getting her a nice Mint Chocolate liquor for Christmas, so she can have her favorite drink in her favorite chair at home🙂

so for the dirty grasshopper, it's 1 part kahlua, one part crème de menthe, & 1 part milk? Or 1 part for the first two, then milk to max out the remaining volume of the glass?
@BarTalkCocktails5 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. The great thing about making cocktails is, you can adjust your drink ingredients as you like it. Personally, I like a 1:1:1: ratio. But that's me... Remember, nothing's ever written in stone. Just have fun experimenting. You'll find out what tastes right for you. Cheers!

For some reason this intro reminded me of an adult style, booze-oriented, Mr. Rodgers. Gonna make this for my wife.

I think if you replace the creme menth by midori or pisang among its even better , not sure what to call it then
@BarTalkCocktails3 жыл бұрын
When you sub out Crème de menthe for melon liqueur it's called a Marijuana Milkshake and is usually served as a shot. As far as the name is concerned, I have no idea why it's called that considering there is no cannabis in this drink. Maybe there should be... If you sub out the Crème de menthe for Pisang Ambon we're entering Banshee territory. Cheers!

Can I use white CdM and just add green food coloring?
@BarTalkCocktails3 жыл бұрын
You could, however, food colouring dye is usually made with chemicals derived from petroleum, a crude oil product. You could make a white Grasshopper. It tastes the same as a green one. Although, colour is still important in a classic Grasshopper. Cheers!

@BarTalkCocktails6 жыл бұрын
I think this cocktail would be a gas to make. The only problem is the Tequila. I haven't had a drop since '79. By the end of the summer, maybe into the early fall, I'll tell you why Tequila and I don't mix well together. Until then, keep checking back because I'd love to make an AMF. Cheers!
@leonelyvazquez5596 жыл бұрын
Lol, I understand tequila and I didn't get along either but living 4 hours away from where they make it I learned to love it especially the Herradura Selección Suprema. Also I made the Rusty Nail and Martini stirred not shaken on Saturday and WoW. Cheers from Mexico.
