You know, Saturday is the Haskell stakes race at Monmouth Park, NJ...probably the biggest horse race of the year in NJ. I've been there a few times, great venue and their official drink is the Sea Breeze. You buy one, get the souvenir glass. Like the KY Derby is the Mint Julep and the Preakness has the Black Eyed Susan? The Haskell is the Sea Breeze. Perfect timing. And a nice drink! Bottoms up, mate!

One of my local pubs has a Pioneer Breeze using vodka,apricot brandy,grapefruit juice & cranberry, kind of combination of both versions you made. Most of Ocean Spray cranberries come from right here in Richmond,BC (suburb of Vancouver).

I made the Harry Cradock one. What a lovely light drink. I used 1/2 oz peach schnapps and 1/2 oz Cherry liqueur - I ran out of the peach, and didn’t have apricot brandy. Lol. It’s so refreshing after a day of skiing out here on the west coast of BC Canada 🇨🇦 Lemon wheel for garnish is pretty and delish. Thanks for your fun videos ❤❤❤ Oh, and I made your grenadine. So good. Store- bought is no comparison.

It is said the grapefruit juice cancels out the ethanol notes of the vodka, making the drink basically juice. Not sure how true that is - but don’t give it to the kids either way.

The grapefruit juice certainly does a very good job of masking the taste of the ethanol. With neutral alcohol like vodka, you always need to keep a watchful eye on those curious kids... Cheers!

I don't see any correlation between the two drinks nor how one could be the inspiration for the other? The only similarity is the color. As always, enjoyed the history lesson and will give the Sea Breeze a try.
