Hi David, I have made this to your recipe this evening, for I got a bottle of Goslings 151 this week. Only tweak was to use Aluna Coconut rum instead of Malibu. It is, as you said, a full flavoured, fruity drink with the pineapple, orange, coconut and Banana all present, then the power - or HAMMER - kicks in! I will not have another drink today. Nick from York
@boozeontherocks Жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, It sound like you had a good one especially as the Aluna ia a higher ABV than the Malibu. That makes the drink quite the hammer. I'm glad you liked it.

Hi David! In making big batches, do you just multiply the volume of servings per ingredient?
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Just scale it up to the size you want. so if there are 4 oz/120 ml of rum and you want 10 multiply it by 10 for 40 oz/1120 ml
@jackmcdougall83562 жыл бұрын
just out of curiosity, why don't you use pour spouts? not suggesting you free pour but they help reduce stills when measuring.

Mostly just preference. I never really used the for pouring. I have a few I will have to play with them a bit.

David, ABVs above 51% are illegal in Brazil and we never get rums above 45% alcohol. What can I use instead of 151 rum,?
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. You could use a good spiced Rum, or a Cachaca of you preference. Something that goes well with orange and Pineapple. The ABV does not really matter, Its more about the rum flavors. You could add an extra 1 oz/30 ml or rum to give you more alcohol.
@jimgricejr73342 жыл бұрын
I'll bet you could use 99 Bananas which has a higher ABV% and eliminate the 151 altogether. That combined with the White rum should give it the kick it needs.
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
I would love to use that, but I cannot get that liqueur here where I live.

I just made this drink with the difference to your recipe that I had Bols banana liquour and instead of the 151 rum (which I don't have from any maker yet) I had Appleton Estate Signature Blend. I found the drink pretty sweet, which is not a problem for me. The grenadine is there only for show, right? At least in my drink it just froze to a jam like consistency at the bottom of the glass. I have home made grenadine. You said I could drink these all day... well, that is kind of true... at least untill I would pass out :-D I made two of these (one for video, one for photo) and basically enjoyed 90 ml of rum and 90 ml of sweeter liquours within half an hour. This is not a bad way to spend an early afternoon in Finland, cheers! Thanks for the recipe and your videos.

Please don't use Rose's grenadine. I've never had it but "everyone" says it's artificial sh*t. Does it even contain pomegranate? Grenadine is so easy to make by yourself. Otherwise the cocktail sounds GREAT!
@gregellis38592 жыл бұрын
Nope. No pomegranate in it at all. From the MrBostonDrinks website: Ingredients: High fructose corn syrup, water, citric acid, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate, Red #40, natural and artificial flavors, Blue #1. You are right. Just make it yourself. It will make your cocktails taste so much better and you are also correct that it is dirt simple to make. There are plenty of recipes on the internet.
