Why do you make a buttercream and not a patisserie cream which is much better?

Buttercream is better used between layers of a cake as well as the outside & goes with butter-based, oil-based, or other types of cakes.It can also be flavored with (chocolate) as shown in this recipe.

I've got a doubt. When bicarbonate of soda is added, it needs an acid to react . So why no acid ingredient added?

The bottom layer should have been the right way up. Bet the vanilla extract adds no discernible flavour. Boring buttercream. This cake is not very inspiring.
