I just finished this! I made a black one with yellow smiley faces in the squares, it looks so cool! I cant wait to wear it out when I go shopping. This is my 3rd crochet project and it was surprisingly easier than I had anticipated, but omg did the ribbing take forever to do LOL thank you so much for this tutorial!! :D

Thank you! I like the idea of granny square balaclava but no other model I found (right before your upload) actually were a flattering consrruction - they were more like hoods. Now THIS is perfect, making a fun one for my sister :D

Yo thank u so much for this video. I made the balaclava in just a few hours and it´s by far the best pattern for a balaclava i´ve tried

Yes this is the pattern I've been looking for. Fast and easy. But you also got my designer side working. You can 2 granny squares and for the middle head and back neck area use a mile a minute and a mile a minute for the all around neck area. I will be making one today. And make button fastener that way you can wear it with easy of no messed up hair. Thank you so much for the easiest pattern yet.

currently working on this and it's working out great! making great use of existing squares I had lying around >_< the square design you showed is also cool so i'm simultaneously making those in a deep red (while my current balaclava is a dusty ocean blue)

I'm making this right now! I was wondering if the 'slip stitch in the next 2 chains' for the ribbing is like doing a decrease??

I finished it, it's so cute! Picking the granny design & colors was the hardest part for me actually. In the end I used a dense granny square pattern without holes. I made the collar 18 stitches long, but I think I prefer it even longer so I can tuck it into my coat and I don't need to layer it with a scarf. Although instead of making the collar longer I might try to make the granny squares a bit bigger/longer next time (granny rectangles?). Because I'm definitely gonna make another one once I thrift a new winter coat (so I can create a cute color pallet with the rest of my outerwear).

Why did you make each square of 5 inches size? How did you calculate it's size?

Can I use 3mm hook? Will it be similar?
@skripila2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the yarn I guess
@Imowe_2 жыл бұрын
I assume you’ll need to add a few more rows to get the same size (unless you’re making them smaller, then it may fit as is)

How do you tie off the granny square 😩😩😩 My first crochet project ever ❤ ty for this!
@marymoran1015 Жыл бұрын
I generally chain one and then cut my yarn and pull my end through and that makes a small knot that should be relatively hidden when you join the squares😊
