So happy seeing adults using/knitting balaclavas. Since my kids were born i have knitted them every winter new animal themed ones, my son likes fox and for my daughter a deere one. People always compliments their cute ears 😄

I am a super beginner and I made this in 3 days! So happy to learn so many basic techniques (adding stitches, rib stitch, in the round, i cord etc.), and over the moon with how it turned out. Needed to find other tutorials about super basics for each (e.g. binding off i cord) but just wanted to say thanks!

this comment gave me the courage to start! I didn't really understand how she seemed to have boound off (without binding off) the top of the head piece, though, so if you know how she did that i'd be very happy to know. Now i just bound it off and picked up stitches everywhere, whereas she seemed to have been able to use the stitches she had on the separate needle (?) anywho, great tutorial so far

I had no idea these were trendy again :) I have pattern books from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s that include balaclavas. Yours looks stunning on you! One suggestion - instead of having the neck ribbing as one solid piece around, make it open with a few extra stitches and button hole. The button goes below and between the ear and front centre, or wherever you want it to be. That way, you don't have to pull the entire piece over your head (and hair!) to put it on or take it off. I love the way you finished it off! Way cool lady!

I will absolutely be giving this a go! I've been thinking about making a balaclava/hood like this for ages, but somehow couldn't wrap my mind around this type of construction, which is also my favourite type of construction. Thank you for setting it out so simply, and I am way less intimidated now. Time to go stash diving!

Love this!! I haven't even watched the video yet. All I saw while scrolling were the pics and I was immediately hooked😅. It's the fact that it looks like it'll fit comfortably, and bonus!!, no sharp peaky back end. Just smoothly following the shape of the head. Oh, I am going to have so much fun with this, thank you!❤😁

My main issue with balaclavas is the same as with scarves - having something up against my neck is really uncomfortable. That being said, that looks really nice, and makes me tempted even if I doubt I'd get much use 😅

The balaclava turned out so nice! 😍I've been umming and ahhing whether to knit one up too. Maybe I'll just have to give it a shot! I thought it was interesting to use K2tog through the back look rather than the front loop, when you do the icord. Does this give a different effect?
@WellLovedKnits2 жыл бұрын
Oh funny! I never tried it the other way. I figured working through the back loop was what helped the curl of the cord

I justtt made a balaclava using this video and accidentally k2tog through the front loop - it made these unintended "stitch-like" loops that are visible in the front!

I love this! I found a good one and I just finished the crown, but I have a question. When you are going to pick up the stitches on the side do you do a slipknot first and then insert them into the stitches you're picking up? Or after?

Hello, thank you for the tutorial. The only thing is that I have a real problem with measurements. I used the same material and the same rows as you, but it is still too small. I saw that you put the measurement in cm, but i'm struggling to know which cm is which part while I'm crocheting. Can you give the cm per step? Sorry and thank you.

Hey! Thanks so much for your video, your balaclava looks amazing! I am a beginner and still need to get used to knit with the circular needles, you said you used 6mm needles... but how big is the circle, like how long are the needles? Thanks!

@meeshmeeshmeesh98 ай бұрын

@buttbutt737622 күн бұрын
work to the end then flip around! js think of it as u knitting a flat rectangle :)
@midorihat22 күн бұрын
This would be a super duper later reaponse 😅 but you can work back and forth in the U like that because you haven’t joined the round. (You do that once you’ve reached the bottom & are ready for the ribbing) 😊 So even though you are using circular needles that are connected (like magic loop style), you’re working that ‘U’ back and forth on your needles - treating exactly as if it was flat. Hope that helps someone!!!

Since I've discovered your channel I've been binge-watching all of your videos, I really appreciate your work and your passion for knitting! Love this tutorial as much as the others (I'm currently waiting for some skeins to be delivered in order to start your Sable Sweater) 🤩 Do you think you will make a tutorial for socks with circular needles in the future? I'm still a beginner, but I've watched you doing them and I'm veeeeery tempted! 🤓
