Love muffins, we have a stunning new knit shawl tutorial for you today! This is an easy, repeating pattern and we hope you love it!
Download here: www.expression...
Yarn used: 3 skeins Portland at Night Pearlescent Worsted: www.expression...
Colors come and go so if that's out of stock, feel free to request it here! www.expression...
Nautile, which is French for nautilus, is a semi-circular, spiral wedge shawl that features repeating sections of eyelet lace and reverse stockinette stitch. The contrasting textures of these two stitch patterns, which alternate across five wedges, mimic the curves of a nautilus shell. The nautilus shell is a beautiful symbol of life, internal harmony, creation, and evolution that also conforms to the sacred geometry of the Golden Mean, which appears throughout nature and art.
Nautile is knitted flat, and each of the five wedges is constructed by adding one stitch at the beginning of each wedge on all right-side rows. The wedges grow evenly and radiate out from your centrally placed cast-on point. Once you’ve cast on and completed the eight set-up rows, you’ll repeat a four-row stitch pattern that makes up the remainder of the shawl. This all-over design allows the Pearlescent Worsted yarn’s shimmer and shine to take center stage.
Have a delightful day!

I love any pattern that reflects the creative genius behind the Golden Mean. Aristotle discovered what had been created by God. A most pleasing thing to the eye and soul. All things of beauty reflect it. Fibonacci put it into different numerical terms. All flowers are based on it as well! By the way, it's a GORGEOUS PATTERN!

That Pearlescent yarn is so beautiful and aptly named. I'm going to use some yarn I already have because I'm saving up for some Oasis yarn I can use for the Wandering Wrap I saw here, too.

one of the most concise instructional videos on this shawl, style, I can't thank you enough, Knitting for me is an escape, but so many videos have so much extraneous and unwanted, information, I find with the limited time I have I want clear concise information. with the written instructions typed clearly is also most welcome no excess guff or blather as I call it. Note to new knitters from a new knitter, if you're a tight knitter like me then change that, knit loosely, especially this shawl needs you to knit loosely or it's going to be tough in the knit-two-together parts. I faced the issue. And if in the beginning of the shawl you make any kind of mistake don't hesitate with restarting as many times you need to. I was done with the set up rows and realised I had an extra stitch which could potentially ruin the entire pattern because I didn't know where it came from and since there was still time to go back as I hadn't come far, I pulled the entire knit apart and started again. I've lost count of the number of times I had to rip apart and restart because of something or the other. And yes, do use stitch markers (I'm using safety pins) because it's important in this project even if it's difficult/messy to work with in the beginning. Extra tip - (like my boyfriend says-) always do anything with 80% confidence and 20% skills, it works wonders. I realised that a lot of times I was ripping apart the knit not because of mistakes but because I THOUGHT that I'm doing it wrong even though I wasn't, this happened solely because I didn't have the confidence in my skills. So trust your knowledge and make sure you're relaxed when working on this or you'll not really be able to pull through. I took a break of a couple weeks from knitting and it was a good decision for me

I am knitting this shawl with the Sunset on the Beach 'PEARLESCENT' WORSTED yarn. It is fabulous! But I have a question: this is a super soft and slippery yarn with lots of body ... do you have a recommended joining method for when I need to go to the next ball of yarn???
@ExpressionFiberArts
@ExpressionFiberArts 2 жыл бұрын
Here is one method that I like to use: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3Lbm2t6ftdkgrM But you can also tie a little knot with the new yarn, and weave in the ends. Because the Pearlescent Worsted is a single-ply yarn, it felts easily, so however you decide to join, giving the strands a little friction will help them "stick" together.

It is just so amazing to watch you knit and/or crochet. I'm fairly new to knitting and I wonder how you read the instructions and knit at the same time. it takes me time to find the line of the stitches that I am on, then remember the stitch I'm supposed to knit and then back to the line again to find the next stitch. How do you do it?

Great question, Judy! I like to use a highlighter and mark off the row I've done. Also, I never stop mid-row. Make sure to finish out each row, mark it off so when you pick up your knitting next, you'll know exactly where to start! I hope that helps!

Really tried to keep up, but I learned to knit by holding the yarn with my right hand and in German (which makes it hard to translate it into the German term and technique). That makes it unfortunately very challenging to follow you, who holds the yarn with their left hand. The yarn-over part seems to be impossible for me to do in combination with the stitch markers (which I am using for the first time in my life). I gave up crying... 😭😭😭😭 I am truly heart broken that I can't figure it out 🥺😞 I will try to find a video showing me the yarn over part while holding the yarn with the right hand. Then I will give it another try. Anyway thank you so much for sharing your videos, I just finished my second shawl from your patterns (crochet though) and I am so happy with the outcome.

@@ExpressionFiberArts You are such a beautiful and kind heart. God bless you. Don't change your own technique just because of one person.. I will find a solution, because I really really really love the shawl and want to make it. It's so beautiful. 🤗🤗🤗

Silly question, how do you do a yo pearl after a knit? I've seen about four methods and I'm lost (and have restarted this shawl three times already, I do love the pattern though).

Hi I tried a change of stitch markers but am still having problems As I knit with the yarn in my right hand I am finding the marker gets tangled in the YO ‘s and I just cannot work with the yarn being guided from the left Any suggestions or could you do a brief video using the yarn in your right hand so I can copy Thank you You are wonderful!

Try little tiny elastic hair bands for stitch markers. They are super cheap and work great!
