I just love you guys. I’ve been following you for a while now and just have quietly watched your family grow and blossom. I’ve laughed with you, cried with you, wish I could lend a hand in the garden or helped with chores. Bri, you and Art have inspired me (and I’m sure others) in ways you will never know. I am so grateful that you guys decided to shared your lives so publicly. Thank you! I hardly ever comment on KZbin and I realize it is a total disservice to you! You may not see this cause I picked an old video to comment, but starting today I’m going back through old clips, leaving comments and likes so my quite happy joy I get, can help your KZbin algorithms. All my love from the southwest ❤️

Today was my first time I found this channel and I like it. I have green and red tomatoes, garlic, basil, eggs and the onions, most from my yard. Just need the cheese. Since it's raining, I'll make it tomorrow. Looks good. My homestead is 1/3 acre in the middle of a very small city, which is a wildlife habitat, micro farm and my neighbor let me use his vegetable garden also, so I grew most everything (not allowed chickens). I have a few hundred jars that I canned myself, anyone want extra jams? - I grow a lot of fruits. I'm 70.

Wow Bri, I've never heard of tomato pie before, but after seeing yours I'll definitely be attempting to make your version of it. I love ricotta cheese and I like Ramono cheese with the basil and ripe beefstake tomatoes and green tomatoes I think chopped onion and garlic will taste fantastic in it. Thank you so much and May God Bless you and your family.

Tomato pie is one of our summer favorites. I use Duke mayo with Palmetto cheese - everything else is from the garden. Remember - the top needs to be brown. I cheat and soften the onion with one piece of bacon then add it all in. We use these as appetizers at dinner parties. Glad you are teaching your kids the joys of veggies.

Love this. Reminded me of my Grandmother. By the way, she used the "end of season" green tomatoes that were never going to ripen, to make Green Tomato Pie. Like apple pie but with tomatoes. Thanks for bringing that memory up. 🧡
@mpedmar97014 жыл бұрын
Do you have a recipe for that, that you can share??
@dianacollinson24244 жыл бұрын
@@mpedmar9701 Sift together & set aside: 1- 1/2 C Sugar, 3Tbs Flour, 1 tsp Salt, 1 tsp Cinnamon, (optional) 1 tsp Nutmeg, 1/4 tsp cloves. Mix with 4 Cups peeled, sliced green tomatoes, adding 1 Tbs Lemon juice or Apple Cider Vinegar. Pour into pie shell, top with lattice pie dough crust or with Crumble topping, whichever you prefer...Bake 1-1/4 hour @ 350° or until filling bubbles.
@mpedmar97014 жыл бұрын
@@dianacollinson2424 With all the sugar this would be more on the tomato jam sort of pie instead of the savory tomato pie. Oh man, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves ...... I'm sure your house smells AWESOME !!!! Does it end up tasting really sweet ?

@smb1232116 жыл бұрын
Ahsan - I like organic but not a single study has found organic food to be better tasting or more nutritious. I had an organic farm but refused to pay the "fee" for an organic "certificate" (one reason organic is so high). Pesticide use is WAY down compared to what it used to be due to all the new strains. I use GMO corn (well, everyone does) because I need no pesticide.

You have the eating sweet peas in your garden. You can shell the peas right out of the pod and eat them like they are and they don't have to be cooked. Great in a salad. Mint tea the best. nice and refreshing on a hot summer day. You will have a lot of mint that grows in the ground. Mint is good for indigestion and upset stomach, so no use for rolaids that way.

What is the name of those shorter, candlelabrah style sunflowers? we moved a old tree stump from our back yard and the stump had been decomposing next to our hanging bird feeder. we ended up with a wonderful volunteer garden of sunflowers that year but ive never been able to find the same kind of sunflowers. i assume this was something used commercially. they were very short and full of branches. My mom makes the best tomato pie! i make a good spinach pie.

if youre renting, not everyone will allow you to have a garden. please check with your landlord before plating, or you could end up getting rid of all your hard work for nothing. even if you own, if most of your yard is in the front, a garden is a nono with an HOA.
