You are a wealth of information! And you’re so beautifully pregnant. I’m south of you in Oklahoma and feel so inspired by your disciplined approach to flower farming. My husbands not sold, he’d prefer for me to grow edible things. But after my first year of growing zinnias and cosmos, I’m hooked. ❤ praying about making more of this hobby

Thanks! So happy we followed suit! Our 2nd year we grew tulips. I found some last minute deals from a wholesaler group on FB and learned a few things. 1. I didn’t know what to look for as far as when to harvest… double and fringed tulips. As a first time grower it was confusing. My colors were mixed so that was difficult to figure how to combine. 2. Our market definitely wants more! Spring is high dollar pay if you have tulips. This year we ordered from a reputable place in large quantities. We stuck to singles. We may add 1 double, but it’s late and sales seem limited.

Oh how I love spring flowers! Tulips, ranunculus, anemones Oh My! 😮 In Western CO 7a, we get warm really fast too! It makes it challenging to grow those spring flowers!

Do you have to do any sort of pest prevention/treatment having a cut flower garden?

Hey Alex, have you ever heard of the Tulip 'Bleu Aimable' ?. Is lavender-blue. No idea it's available in the USA (I'm from Belgium, The Netherlands is only 2 hours from where I live 🙂)

The ones you picked are beautiful. I wonder if creatures try to eat your tulip bulbs.
@katelink51362 ай бұрын
I feel silly asking this, but don’t tulips come back every year? So won’t you end up with double this year? Or do you dig them up after picking?
@sarahheffernan34102 ай бұрын
No because you pull the bulb. And if you don’t, there is not enough of the flower left to energize for the following years flowers.

Just fyi, people don’t really buy flowers everywhere like they do where you are.

Americans spending billions on flowers each year. We live in a rural town in the middle of the country and still sell. There’s lots of opportunity to sell flowers everywhere 😊

@@CoramDeoFarm lol not in Kansas. People trying to sell flowers at markets give up.

@@kit2130off the top of my head I can think of at least 5 flower farms in Kansas that sell 6 figures…

@@CoramDeoFarm how do they do it? I can only sell bouquets for $5 at the rural markets. Other flower sellers have stopped trying. If I go to the work of setting up an honor stand off my busy road, people around here won’t stop for $25 bouquets. I’m planting more but may end up selling just to florists at low prices. Not sure how else to do it. I don’t use social media or know many people or have a church.
