Uncle Iroh is an iconic character in Avatar the Last Airbender Uncle Iroh's wisdom and tea brewing skills help make Avatar the Last Airbender a show to remember Uncle Iroh also happens to be my favorite character so I decided to make a guide on how to make a perfect cup of tea even Uncle Iroh would be proud of enjoy my fellow Avatar the Last Airbender fans.

@@hud-sun1221 No, we firebenders can't "firebend you out of existence", for several reasons, such as: 1. It physically isn't possible, no matter how hard you try. 2. The spirits would take your bending away. 3. Tea isn't an actual reason to firebend against someone, and it doesn't count as self defense.

From personal experience, he probably brought the water to ginseng's appropriate heat...but he used jasmine tea, which needs a lower heat. This makes the tea "fry up" and taste bad.

You know there are much easier ways to get the right temperature of the water than that right? (I've reached the point where I can tell the temperature by the sound of the water or even it's look😅) I wouldn't infuse the Jasmine tea for that long 😐 but I would probably make it more closer to "gong fu cha" style lol🤷🏼‍♂️😌. Fun fact I just had Jasmine pearls yesterday (it's been a very long time since I had jasmin tea). Also make extra water for multiple infusions 😁😎😋☺️. I haven't had ginseng tea in a very long time 😔. I personally prefer non flavored teas because they can have mind blown flavors by themselves and it's even more impressive 😁🥰. Fun video though 😉 😁

I realize this is a video for beginners, but here are some tips that will make it better 1. If you can afford the $50 or so, temperature-controlled tea kettles make a WORLD of difference. If not, you can generally tell the water temperature by touch once you're experienced enough doing it the old fashioned way. 2. In my experience, most beginners (and quite a few veterans) find tea lower in bitterness to be the most appealing, so the lower end of that temperature range is probably ideal. For jasmine green tea, 160 degrees is ideal. For standard Chinese (dragonwell) or Japanese (sencha) green tea, I believe 150 is an ideal temperature (tastes will vary of course). 3. 4min 30sec is a fairly long brew time. Even for jasmine tea, I wouldn't recommend longer than 2min. 4. if you do it right, you can typically get an extra 1-2 brews out of the leaves.

@kjell159
@kjell159 3 жыл бұрын
Try gong fu brewing. (Using more leaf in less water - usually in a gaiwan or tiny +/- 150 ml teapot - , brewing for much shorter 10 - 30 seconds & then resteeping the same leaves for 5 to 20 times, taking slightly longer each steeping. That way the flavours/aromatics don't infuse or vaporize all at once, but bit by bit.) You'll likely not be disapointed, and you might be more likely to get high (cha zui) on tea. But your 'ginseng tea', I don't think it is what you think it is. It looks like a green flowering tea, probably has ginseng in it though, but it's not pure ginseng tisane. And 'jasmine tea', is a scented green tea. (Pure jasmine herbal tisane exists, but is rather rare and in most cases people mean the green tea when they say jasmine tea.) If jasmine tea contains dried jasmine petals that's actually usually a negative sign. Tea sellers might add it to please the eye, but apparently it alters the taste & texture of the tea when brewed. A nice suggestion for people new to tea: longjing (dragon well), it's a relatively famous and classic green tea. But a nice one at that. Has a floral note to it, and quite some savory grassiness for a Chinese instead of Japanese green tea. And if you're ready for another world: pu-erhs & other post fermented teas in general. Aged white teas, pu-erhs, some oolongs and shade grown green teas are apparently most likely to get you cha zui.

@@hud-sun1221 No problem! I understand that not everyone is that much into, or knows as much about, tea as I may do. I like your concept, where you go recreate things from anime. I don't even think it's mentioned in the Avatar series itself if Iroh himself brews 'gong fu'. He mostly uses bigger teapots (not like tiny 150 ml), like the one you showed. To be honest, I've been drinking tea and tisanes (herbal 'teas' not made from the actual tea plant) for many years but only very recently gotten into gong fu and more expensive kinds of teas myself. I still get impressed several times by how aromatic & complex certain teas can be, even though I've even been drinking loose tea for years, and felt hyped while writing my comment. :)

I thought ginseng tea was Iroh’s favorite? He said it himself when he and Zuko met with Admiral Zhao.

Did you use Red or White Ginseng? Also I appreciate your video but isn't Green Tea (especially high grade Jasmin) supposed to be cooked for 30 seconds or up to a minute? Otherwise the fine "fruity" and "sweet" aromatics would be overwhelmed by the bitter aromatics. Cooking it in a more careful way ensures that you can use it for two, three or more rounds (using the same tea you previously cooked). It is well known that the second and third round are the tastiest 😋
