Awesome gains! The 3800 is just getting started at 14-15psi. You may lose a head gasket with more power but with some head studs you can run them 24-28psi and really make some steam 🤟

The stock block for the grand National V6 would hold up to about 650 HP. There’s a bit of difference between the 3.8 in the grand National and this 3800 (the 3800 was produced from 1988 until it ended production in the 2000’s) We’ll find out ! I think Richard plans on running till it blows up! That small turbo he has on it won’t allow 1000 HP.

The series iii is supposed to have better rods. They are really similar to a gen4 LS style rod and that will probably be the limiting factor. I thought the series iii would give up at 900ftlbs of torque but the series ii not many people have tested to failure.

Look into the Mp extreme m90 case. It gets rid of the restrictive stock inlet found on gen 3 and 5 blowers while also boasting a huge outlet that makes these things move some air. These aftermarket cases will accept the traditional m90 snouts and rotor packs so its easy to adapt a used blower especially in a remote mounted blower/intercooler setup.
@pancudowny
@pancudowny 2 жыл бұрын
@Goblin Slayer You'd have an easier time locating the IRS mounting points on a '64 Falcon. And, ftr: GM originally intended the 4th-gen F-bod to be FWD, like the Dodge Daytona & Plymouth Laser.... since those were selling so well, and everyone was following Mopar's suit, being as successful as it was. When problems packaging the 3.8L V-6/FWD power-train turned-up during development, and the letter writing campaign to Ford from Mustang fans halted production of a FWD Mustang, GM scrambled to repackage the 4th-gen as a RWD car with V-8 option.

@@pancudowny The same company that sells the magnum power case sells cast inlets that far exceed the stock m90. At the cost tho, youd probably be better off with a 3.5 inch aluminum tube and a 90mm tb attached at the end of it. That said, its a lot easier making an inlet for this case vs modifying a stock eaton blower and making due.

It's sad to me that so many GNs end up with an LS instead of a 3800 ii or iii. The 3800 is the advancement of the GN 3.8 engine family and brings a lot of improvements... cross bolted mains, somewhat better oiling, slightly better heads, roller cam. Of course GM could have helped out by putting a decent bellhousing pattern on it instead of the stupid 60 degree v6 pattern.

8:27 - exactly where my mind was too (about 2x the boost) - so that turbo helps efficiency cuz that's more than 2x the stock power If I had my druthers, I'd get a twin screw rather than that Roots, and feed it w/ that GT45, along w/ ring gap, studs, etc....I'm sure that turbo can push more air than that engine can handle, so a twin screw would help squeeze it in....turbo would light faster cuz a twin screw effectively increases engine displacement so the turbo would like that

You Sound Like The Guy To Ask This Question lol. Im Going Over Ring Gap. I Got A Set Of Diamond Forged Pistons With Ceramic Coated Tops. They Are The 8.0:1 Compression Ratio Pistons. I Bought Them Them Intense Racing And They Had .020" Ring Gap For Top Ring. At The Time I Thought Nothing Of It. Doing Research It Looks Like The Ring Gap Should Be Around .026" For Mild Boost 15-30PSI. I Wanna Make 500-600WHP. I Was Making 480WHP Around 16PSI Of Boost On Stock Ring Gap But That Was On 210,000 Mile Rings/Cylinder Bores. Should I Take It Apart And Gap Them To .026"? I Find It Really Dumb For Intense Racing To Be Listing A .020" Ring Gap On A Set Of Forged Pistons Which I Think Would Be Used For No Less Then Mild Boost lol. Last Question On Cylinder Heads. I Got A Set Of Ported 3800 Cylinder Heads (the n/a versions). I Only Came Across One Thing That's Making Me Paranoid. 1 Head Had Smooth Intake Runners And 1 Has A Dip In All The Runners Where The Injector Would Go On The Supercharged Head. Here Is A Video kzbin.infoIQHczTzBYFg?feature=share Should I Be Concerned? Or Am I Being Overly OCD? I would love to see what a more modern intercooled 1.9L TVS supercharger would do on the 3800 V6. Also its best to have the supercharger blow into the turbo inlet in a compound setup. Impressive. Most impressive lol. I'm curious as to how far it'll go with just the stock head bolts. I have never heard of anyone blowing a head because of the lack of head studs. The stock head bolts are very strong, and torqued really high. I can't really find any reason to use head studs on most builds I see. $100 spent for an M90 build seems like a waste of money in my opinion.

@@andyharman3022 I can't understand why there are so many M90 3800 guys with the mentality that more boost equals more power. With a turbo that would be true. Push the boost to high with an M90 3800 build and all your get is more bottom end, but sacrifice top end. I've quite literally seen guys pushing 18psi with these, but they easily get beat by the guy only running 9psi.

@richardholdener1727 mine is a 2000 grandprix gt coupe, 200hp and I like how it runs but I've always thought it could use another 10 to 20 more hp, I've put a zzp 2.5" downpipe w cat on but I swear it doesn't seem like it reaches 90mph from 60 like it did w original downpipe and one thing I kno between the two is this zzp is only single wall pipe compared to the original being double wall,, so I think I'm possibly loosing a little backpressure at the rear manifold and maybe loosing a little power up top? Torque seems atleast as good but I'm not sure it's proper for mine on the hp, motor is all stock and properly maintained runs beautiful and I don't expect this zzp pipe to give more hp than 5 or so but I'm just feeling like it should be added to a gtp instead of my gt

I've argued for years that you can double the HP without doubling the Atmospheric pressure, let me explain my reasoning. At WOT there is still some degree of vacuum in the intake manifold, it varies depending on the throttle body and intake tract, but it's there, anywhere from 0.5 hg to 2.0 or there about, the difference from say 1.5 hg to 0 or 0.5 PSI is a level of "boost" not particularly impressive but the engine does react to this, in effect that's like 2 PSI of boost, now if we continue to 10 PSI, I would expect the results to be similar to 12 PSI Boost. Any thoughts on my reasoning?

I would assume you're right that 14.7 psi in the manifold = 15-16 psi before the throttle body. This also has to do with volumetric efficiency at peak power. Some engines won't make double HP at 1 atm boost. That's why this combo was so good.
@T..C..M
@T..C..M 2 жыл бұрын
Think of the BMW 1.5 F1 engine in the 80s, it was making 1300-1500hp on 80psi, that's 5.44 atmospheres, 1500÷5.44 = 275hp, which we can all agree is an unattainable HP output for a NA 1.5l engine, I would guess max theoretical power for a 1.5 NA would be in the 180-200hp range based on the numbers attained by high-end streetbike engines. Edit: I'm wrong, the 1441cc Kawasaki ZX14 made a claimed 207hp @13,200 rpm with only 12-1 compression on premium fuel. So on F-1 fuel with higher rpm and compression 275hp seems attainable.

@@T..C..M HP and Torque are two different creatures, the F1 engine makes incredible HP numbers and the Torque will rise with the RPM but it's more like a light switch, on or off, but when she's on watch out.
