Hello Linda, I wanted to tell you that I am so pleased to have discovered your channel I consider myself as a kindred spirit as I get so much pleasure watching your posts. I am recently recovering from a serious health problem and watching your posts has helped me find my inspiration again to enjoy what I have around me. My home is not a beautiful old New England home like yours but it many similar items in my collection, I love silver especially candlesticks and crystal I make beautiful French knot and other stitches embroidery and most of all I relate to your use of pre loved treasures that you find on consignment or markets, so much more interesting than retail shops. Yes you do inspire me all the way over in Melbourne Australia, stay well and healthy and keep making and sharing your posts.

I miss violets and real grass and all of that lush northern spring! Florida can't compare. Enjoy the cocktail!

To hold down my outdoor tablecloths, I take a rock with some weight and put it underneath the furthest most corner of the tablecloth (the part that is draping below the table), drawing up the corner a bit, enough to tuck the rock inside of the tablecloth. I then use a heavy elastic to hold it inside the little pouch. I use pretty ribbons to tie bows to the corners. It's both pretty and functional!

Dear Linda Smith Davis, I am so thrilled and grateful to have discovered your channel. I lived right off Massachusetts Avenue for over 20 years before I needed to move back to my childhood home to take care of an elderly parent. I desperately miss New England but can take a short visit with every video. I especially liked this one. I learned to make violet syrup at the Boston School of Herbal Studies. Classes took place in a wonderful antique home and gave me a tremendous appreciation of the healing properties of our plant friends. I also loved your simple video of beautiful New England homes/colors. Newburyport and Marblehead are favorites, and the Trustees of Reservations also have such beautiful properties. I don't know if the wonderful churches and libraries throughout the region interest you/your other viewers, but I would love to see them covered as well. Both my sister and I are now very enthusiastic subscribers.

What a charming video. First of all loved your silver and rope tray. I liked the two little china black and white cows on the table in your garden. I have a little one. My husband brought it home for me. He had been out to lunch for business and the owner of the restaurant gave it to him for me. It was right after all the trouble the U.K. had with that cow disease. He said " Your wife is English isn't she. Mad Cow ? " Hhhmmmm. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for the Violet Simple Syrup recipe. It's magic. Looks lovely in that pretty glass. Parma Violets are British violet-flavoured tablet confectionery manufactured by the Derbyshire company Matlow, named after the Parma violet variety of the flower. The sweets are hard, biconcave disc-shaped sweets, similar to the Fizzers product from the same company but without their fizziness. Source Wikipedia.

They are similar in size and shape to tic tac mints. Packaged in a small, white, oval tin with an illustration of violets on the lid. I find them at my local neighborhood pharmacy and food market. I believe Whole Foods and Fresh Market stock them.

@@newenglandfineliving the french farm dot com carries them, but they've been out of stock forever. I like to look around on their website quite a bit though so it's easier to spot gourmet food bargains at places like TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Marshalls, Ocean State Job Lot, Christmas Tree Shops and believe it or not....occasionally at the dollar tree!!

When you pour the boiling water over the violets to steep for 24-48 hours, do you leave it sit out (covered) at room temp, or does it need to be in the refrigerator at that stage? Thanks for the idea.

Is there any particular variety of violets that are not edible? I’m not sure how many variations there are, but I would like to try this but I would have to go in search of some violets. Thank you Linda

When you add the violet water mixture to the pot and heat up, do you add equal amount of sugar as the amount of violet water? For example if you have 2 cups of violet water then 2 cups sugar? I’m assuming so if it’s a simple syrup but wanted to make sure. You only mentioned equal parts violet and water.
