Just made watercolors today, its a super cheap way. Basically i crush color pencil wax and add water for it to soften, then i mix it until its pretty much dissolved. Im actually impressed with the results.

@@uramazing1374 i used to do this as a kid, it doesn’t dry that quickly but i definitely don’t recommend it, only do it if you’re really desperate or if you want to try out something new wash your brushes right when you’re done or else they’ll dry stiff

It's definitely one of those things where it's not overly hard, but the sourcing the pigments and making the recipes take specialist knowledge. The kind of knowledge where when you need a custom color, you know just how to create it. I often forget just how many skills I have that are like this.... From piano to knowing when to comfort a friend. Good reminder to appreciate that in me. Thanksgiving mood been lasting all week. Also, hard not to be grateful when looking at sparkles.

You can't 'make' pigments. Either you extract pigments or make lakes, but pigments are in nature. Unless you speak about nee industrialized pigments in which case the term would be synthesize.

Most simplest way to make homemade watercolors: Use any tiny container you have. Put some baking soda in it (half and a little more than that). Pour some food colouring in it. Mix. Add a little water(just a little bit, make sure not to make it too watery). Put it in the freezer for about 3-4 hours. DONE.
