great production , you have been doing a great job. on my 2014 FuelEx bike it last about 80km,but I bend cogs, bend hanger, horrible engineering, but no where near as bad on my old 6300. I have not tried this method before, I usually just degrease the chain, and lube it with the lube I need to use for the conditions, no I am currently suing Weldtite Wet Extreme. for less extreme weather Muc off wet lube worked nicely, but Rock n' Roll wet extreme was the worst wet lube I have ever experienced took few minutes of winter riding trough snow and chain was dry. but I get the chain clean as new, and lube it let the lube set in to the right place, and then wipe off access. I use Muc off dry degreaser spray, I don't even have to take the chain off. but your way is probably cheaper. in the winter the bike has to be cleaned after every ride, but I don't always have to degrease the chain. I see you use engine oil, I tried to use it as lubricant before when I was a kid, many years ago, but don't remember how it turned out, but I heard that makes a mess, but I see you use a different lube after wards.

Hi Johannes. The engine oil was just an oil bath to displace all the water. Most degreaser sprays are still water based and so when I deep clean my chain once in a while I use an oil bath to remove all the water. Once it's drip and wipe dry of that oil I lube with proper bike chain oil.

@@mtbboy1993 every 3 months I guess. Whenever I deep clean my drive train. I give it all a rough clean and lube whenever I clean the bike which is every 2 or 3 rides here because it's so dry.

@@ReluctantRider I am dealing with Norwegian winter weather, but now I am using Weldte extreme wet lube so far it worked for two rides, but not as long rides as in the summer, so quite good result I guess.

How have you find the strive long term? Any issues and have you had to change the frame bearings out yet?

No not yet mate. Suspension really needs a service but she's not a creaker and I've had no majors.

Nice vid but after running a chain for so long the rollers get worn out (chain growth/stretch) which means the links dont line up so well with the teeth on the chain ring and cassette n that wears out those parts. Not worth replacing chain ring cassette jockey wheel n pulley wheel to save a chain. Bit like others said it was a very well made video.

I dont buy in shops mate. I just decide what I want by looking at the various makers websites then I start searching for seller. ALLTRICKS is usually pretty well prices and obviously Amazon.

a chain lasting so long is also a good sign for the bike, seems like it's stiff enough for you, mine is not :-( also your bike has a proper pivot in the rear :-) 30 months is a loot, but how much you pedal,how long you ride, how much you shift.... these things can effect how long the chain last. when I am feeling well, I ride a lot, so if I am feeling well several days I can ride up 5 times rides about 4hour long a week for longer rides but I sometimes have to take several days of rest if I ride several days in a row. and shorter rides I can also do so sometimes whole week, but this year I was added up two months off the bike due to being sick. but of course riding in the winter is more fatiguing, so I do shorter rides and conditions don't always allow riding on the trail, so a lot of bike paths instead.

In wet conditions they are, in dry conditions they just stop your chain getting clagged like a wet lube does on dusty trails.

I use gasoline as chain cleaner and degreaser. In 10 min the chain shines like new !
