I live in a humid area, GEORGIA!!! Nobody thinks of Georgia as a swampy place, but it is. So many trees creating canopies that keep moisture in the ground, lots of rain from mountains and we’re Florida’s play cousin. I’m from Texas, so it took me years to realize that I needed to change my hair routine to adjust with this new climate. I have had some HAIR DAYS! Add bearing children which has changed my hair a bit and WOW! Your channel has helped me get back on top of my hair game as a part of my mommy self-care. Thanks Bianca!

Thank you for explaining polyquads. I live in Florida and started my curly journey exactly a year ago. I mentioned to my kids (who have beautiful, well-defined curls) that I was thinking of going back to straightening my hair because I just can't get it right and they were so disappointed. They asked me why don't I want to look like them? That did it! I have to make this curly journey work!

Bianca. Sis. You are the best influencer curlsmith could have chosen to sponsor. The way that you actually took the time to research (even if it is google bc lord knows I wasn’t about to) and explained the science side of hair care, and the WHYs and HOWs of it all…unreal. I’m so grateful you and your channel exist. Living in Florida I have been STRUGGLING with the humidity thing recently and now knowing how to deal with it is so empowering. Which I know sounds dramatic but it’s incredibly frustrating to think you’ve finally figured out how to feel good about yourself and then all hell (frizz) breaks loose. So thanks. Love you. As a fellow NYC curly girl, just a tip: you don’t need to COMPLETELY avoid glycerin. Just make sure the product has enough polyquaterniums to counteract the glycerin. If there’s glycerin (especially lower in the ingredients list) but at least one polyquat, your golden.

Bianca, congrats on 600K!!! 🎉🎈🎊💐💝 You look radiant & so beautiful, hope everything has been going well & blessedly for you & your precious family! This video, haha, I was gonna say "Thanks, Dr. Weknowdis," but I can see in the comments that some ppl still need this info! Btw, about polyquats, it's helpful to use a cleanser that has C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate (it's not a sulfate), at least occasionally, bc it's best at removing polyquat buildup (which can happen). I use Kinky Curly Come Clean when I use polyquat gels. (Make sure the cleanser doesn't also have polyquats!) Ps. This is your prettiest hair colour! Would love to hear if your hair has felt healthier with your highlights grown out (if so, same!). Lastly, to answer my own recent question re the Curlsmith dryer, if anyone's wondering: the lowest setting is the same temp as holding the cool shot, so no, you don't have to keep holding the button! xoxo 😘➰➰➰

Wow! 🤯 This content is so helpful! I love to be outdoors, especially during the summer months (🤪), but because I live in extremely humid, soggy wet blanket MS, I have sworn off glycerin for years. Once I learned that my somewhat sandy brown hair tends to be more highly porous, the health of my hair improved drastically when I started incorporating film forming humectants into styling and stopped air drying. Although it can add quite a bit of time to my routine, now I use a cool to warm hooded dryer to help lock in the hydration and moisturizer, to close my hair cuticles, and to set my styles before I head out. ☀️ 😎 I am so looking forward to reading up on and learning more about polyquats (especially -69 😉) and polymers so that I can potentially try more product lines! Thanks so much 🤗 💜

Congrats on hitting 600K. I’m in L.A. as well, but I find my hair tends to lose a lot of moisture so I need the balance of moisture and hold. A good combo for me has been a little of the weightless air dry cream followed by the curl conditioning oil in cream and curl defining soufflé. But when I visit my hometown, Houston, the humidity hits like a wet blanket, so I switch to the In shower fixer.

Good video! I I've in a dry climate and in winter its brutal! My favorite winter gel is Jessicurl Spirilicious which has Polequat 69 at the top. Polyquats are a silicone alternative and act similarly, cause buildup (especially on the scalp) and some can be hard to remove. Since most silicone free products rely heavily on polyquat's for a similar feel, I find regular clarifying to be necessary just like when I use my silicone products. Aslo, sealing with an oil is key! Thanks Bianca!

More than 10 years later, I am now ready to go back to diffusing because AIR DRYING has caused hygral fatigue in my hair since it stays wet for so long. I am so grateful for this proof that sometimes you just gotta start from the beginning and TRY AGAIN. I am SO proud of myself for my 16-year curly hair journey and how, somehow, I never quit! Thank you so much! I'm leaving Florida, and my hair shrinks and frizzes up evéry time I leave the house. I wish there wasn't so much moisture in the air that takes the moisture out of my hair. I hated having curly hair for years, and now that I have learned a lot about my curls, I'm embracing it, along with a love hate relationship with it. 😂😂😂 My hair gets so humid in the summer in Michigan, and most of my main family to extended family, have curly hair. Except for some of my cousins. They have wavy hair. I have biracial hair. I finger comb it in the morning to the point where it looks like waves, but once i leave the house, it poofs back up, and I feel hopeless. I've tried everything. Heatless foam rollers, pins, sock curls, scrunchie curls. Everything heatless, except for curl rods. My hair got straightened back in 2017, and my hair is too thick for a diffuser. I might try it, but I doubt it's gonna work.

This is very timely for me. I live in Maryland but heading home to Trinidad in a few weeks. I have 3C ish hair. I do need to purchase the two best products to take with me. God knows I would need all the HOLD I can get! I with be anxious leaving home with dry hair as I feel my hair may look like a carton character who just had a fright!!!!

I have NEVER heard of Polyquaternium before! But I'll definitely be looking for this ingredients from now on. I have low porosity hair and I live and in high humidity environment. So everything this video helped me a lot. Thank you so much! Gotta get that diffuser as well!

Thanks for these tips, great information BiancaRenee! I live in a humid (NY) climate and find this video very helpful. Will try the Curlsmith product combinations you have recommended. The In-Shower Style Fixer gel is one of my favorite Curlsmith gels to use. I look forward to using the Curlsmith Shine Gel for the first time. 😊
