Thank you for explaining polyquads. I live in Florida and started my curly journey exactly a year ago. I mentioned to my kids (who have beautiful, well-defined curls) that I was thinking of going back to straightening my hair because I just can't get it right and they were so disappointed. They asked me why don't I want to look like them? That did it! I have to make this curly journey work!

I live in a humid area, GEORGIA!!! Nobody thinks of Georgia as a swampy place, but it is. So many trees creating canopies that keep moisture in the ground, lots of rain from mountains and we’re Florida’s play cousin. I’m from Texas, so it took me years to realize that I needed to change my hair routine to adjust with this new climate. I have had some HAIR DAYS! Add bearing children which has changed my hair a bit and WOW! Your channel has helped me get back on top of my hair game as a part of my mommy self-care. Thanks Bianca!

I live in Georgia so we do have our summer humidity. I've recently discovered that my hair loves aloe vera. My gel choice for summer is Kinky Curly for sure. Second choice for summer, Camille Rose Curl Maker. Spring and fall before and after heat and humidity is Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic. I have type 3 medium- high porosity hair ( did Curl Smith test). I use Curl Smith Bond Curl, protein shampoo, and Multi task conditioner. Just bought the strength kit.

This is just what I needed to watch! I recently moved to Philadelphia and was wondering how I would keep my hair from getting super frizzy during the summer. I went to the beach last week, and it was so sad to see my two-hour wash routine go to waste in minutes as my wet hair was done wrong by the ocean mist :/ I would love to have the XXL Defrizzion diffuser so I can rock the summer with defined and shiny curls that aren't at the whim of humidity!

This is amazing!!! I live in New York and the HUMIDITY here is super disrespectful. 😩 I have even started to put “G’s” on my products that contain glycerin so I know to stay away from them in the summer months. I would love the xxl blow dryer and diffuser, because it has to be a miracle at drying faster since it will cover more area.😁

As a fellow NYC curly girl, just a tip: you don’t need to COMPLETELY avoid glycerin. Just make sure the product has enough polyquaterniums to counteract the glycerin. If there’s glycerin (especially lower in the ingredients list) but at least one polyquat, your golden.

Bianca, congrats on 600K!!! 🎉🎈🎊💐💝 You look radiant & so beautiful, hope everything has been going well & blessedly for you & your precious family! This video, haha, I was gonna say "Thanks, Dr. Weknowdis," but I can see in the comments that some ppl still need this info! Btw, about polyquats, it's helpful to use a cleanser that has C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate (it's not a sulfate), at least occasionally, bc it's best at removing polyquat buildup (which can happen). I use Kinky Curly Come Clean when I use polyquat gels. (Make sure the cleanser doesn't also have polyquats!) Ps. This is your prettiest hair colour! Would love to hear if your hair has felt healthier with your highlights grown out (if so, same!). Lastly, to answer my own recent question re the Curlsmith dryer, if anyone's wondering: the lowest setting is the same temp as holding the cool shot, so no, you don't have to keep holding the button! xoxo 😘➰➰➰

This is such a much needed video! 🤩 I'm really into the science of hair, specifically curly hair so this was so refreshing to see from you. I love how much you've opened your channel to other types of curls and textures. You are truly a Curl Queen! 👸🏽 Ayeee Nola got a mention! I'm from Nola but recently moved to San Antonio so I went from extreme humidity to very dry. When I tell you I'm having to adapt to this change! 🤯 It's crazy how when you're in one place your whole life you're literally built to live there and have to readapt Everything you do from skin, to hair, to how much water you drink, when you switch climates. Saved! I'm gonna need to look back on this one!

Congrats on hitting 600K. I’m in L.A. as well, but I find my hair tends to lose a lot of moisture so I need the balance of moisture and hold. A good combo for me has been a little of the weightless air dry cream followed by the curl conditioning oil in cream and curl defining soufflé. But when I visit my hometown, Houston, the humidity hits like a wet blanket, so I switch to the In shower fixer.

Wow! 🤯 This content is so helpful! I love to be outdoors, especially during the summer months (🤪), but because I live in extremely humid, soggy wet blanket MS, I have sworn off glycerin for years. Once I learned that my somewhat sandy brown hair tends to be more highly porous, the health of my hair improved drastically when I started incorporating film forming humectants into styling and stopped air drying. Although it can add quite a bit of time to my routine, now I use a cool to warm hooded dryer to help lock in the hydration and moisturizer, to close my hair cuticles, and to set my styles before I head out. ☀️ 😎 I am so looking forward to reading up on and learning more about polyquats (especially -69 😉) and polymers so that I can potentially try more product lines! Thanks so much 🤗 💜

Bianca. Sis. You are the best influencer curlsmith could have chosen to sponsor. The way that you actually took the time to research (even if it is google bc lord knows I wasn’t about to) and explained the science side of hair care, and the WHYs and HOWs of it all…unreal. I’m so grateful you and your channel exist. Living in Florida I have been STRUGGLING with the humidity thing recently and now knowing how to deal with it is so empowering. Which I know sounds dramatic but it’s incredibly frustrating to think you’ve finally figured out how to feel good about yourself and then all hell (frizz) breaks loose. So thanks. Love you. I started my curly hair journey about a year ago based on what I learned from you. I hate flat ironing my hair and everytime I washed it I wished I could leave it natural but didn't know how. Well, that was until I found one of your videos and learned to love my hair and let go of the flat iron. Thank you for your wonderful tips, especially this one for hot weather. I liked this video BEFORE watching it haha!! 😍I live in NYC and right now it's humid AF during the summer. I would LOOOOOVEEE the Curlsmith XXL Defrizzion diffuser to REDEEM my diffusing journey. A long time ago, diffusing made my hair frizzy and I just assumed it was because it was bad for my hair. More than 10 years later, I am now ready to go back to diffusing because AIR DRYING has caused hygral fatigue in my hair since it stays wet for so long. I am so grateful for this proof that sometimes you just gotta start from the beginning and TRY AGAIN. I am SO proud of myself for my 16-year curly hair journey and how, somehow, I never quit! I am IN LOVE WITH MY HAIR!! This new diffuser would help so much to keep this love going 😎🙏🏽💜Thanks Bianca! God bless! 🌸

I live in NYC where our summers are extremly humid. I noticed that when I wasn’t using gel stylers my hair would get frizzy instanly. Watching you I have been able to learn about so many great stylers that actually make my curls thrive! Diffusing has never been my thing becuase I felt like it would frizz my hair up, however diffusing would really benefit me in the colder winter months and overall to dry my hair instead of stepping outside in wet hair. Thank you so much for teaching us these great tips!! 💗

Thank you for sharing this. This helps me a ton. I moved from a more humid area in 2020 to dry (Arizona) and couldn’t figure out why the products I used before didn’t work the same. I am excited to invest in these curl smith products. Thank you for taking the time to remind us WHY we should love our hair, black is beautiful. Curls are beautiful.

Thank you for dropping this video! I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and it’s humid 24/7. I never knew why my hair frizzed every time I walked outside with damp hair. I own a diffuser but I rarely use it. I’ll have to use these tips for when I go out on my birthday this Friday. Congratulations reaching 600,000 subscribers!

Thank you so much for being so real and always explaining what us curly girls need for our hair. My name is Asia and I live in New York. It's humid but recently my hair hasn't been reacting too harshly to it. Your videos have definitely helped me understand what is best and what I should try. I do have to say that curlsmith is my favorite and it has done wonders for my curls.

Thank you for research and your detailed vid. I was going to throw in the towel on my curly hair and just use a flat iron in the summer.- I live in the hot & humid South East, Atlanta to be specific- the place where everyone abandons hope for their hair. Thank you for bringing hope for us! Can't wait to try the products you mentioned. Thanks again, you're the best!

This is the best explanation ever I've gotten of why I can't seem to control my hair in humid weather. Yes, I live in a very humid area and even when relaxed, my hair would frizz up. I have never used to diffuser but now I understand why I always destroyed my mother's curls after a shampoo utilizing a blow dryer, duh! I would love to try a diffuser for another look and I'm so glad I know how to block the humidity now. Thank you so much!😎🌻😊

Been watching you for years and this has been one of the most informative videos that you've had to date. I like yourself enjoy a super stronghold I like that crunch because I know that it's going to last so I have decided that I'm going to try the curlsmith gels even though I have put that off for a very very long time. I am no longer in the high humidity of Texas and I am back back in Southern Michigan which is much less humid but will be interesting to see which job works best for me

Bianca, congratulations on hitting 600k! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Thank you for the much-needed information because I live in Missouri, and the summer months are hot and humid. I have serval Curlsmith products; one is the In-Shower Style Fixer. I try other hair gels, hoping to find the perfect one with the right amount of hold for my high porosity curly hair, but I find myself returning to the In-Shower Styler Fixer. Now that you have explained the gem, polyquaternium-69, in this wonder gel that will aid my curly hair in Missouri's humid climate, I will give Curlsmith gel a fair chance and be consistent in using it in my hair regimen. By the way, you did a lovely job of explaining polyquaternium. I want the XXL Defrizzon diffuser because of the excellent coverage it can provide, even while hovering around the head of hair. I like that it uses infrared heat for more robust, shinier hair, virtually no frizz, and significantly faster drying time with a delicate airflow, which will minimize frizz. I like that it has a 360 airflow that wraps around curls, and it has ceramic for even heat. I love that it has the stand at the bottom of the handle of the blow dryer. Thank you! 🤗
